Get Hungary for Kürtősh in West End

The perfect new sweet spot has arrived in West Village.

If you are walking down Peters Lane and catch the mouth-watering scent of sweet baked goods, look no further than the newly opened Kürtősh House in West Village. With eight locations across Victoria, New South Wales, and now Queensland, this Hungarian bakehouse and café has crossed the border with its delectable pastries and cakes to delight Brisbane.

Inspiring the name of the humble family business is the Hungarian treat kürtőskalács. Also known as chimney cake, the signature treat takes a cylindrical shape that is sure to catch eyes and noses with its peculiar presentation (and absolutely delicious smell).

Biting into one of these Hungarian delights starts off with a crunchy, caramelised exterior, loaded with your choice of topping, and leads to warm, soft, doughy goodness inside. Baked fresh for every order, it’s the perfect chance to relax with a coffee while you wait, or even pop across the lane to another one of West Village’s newest residents, Anita Gelato.

If you are in a rush, there is no shortage of freshly-baked treats to try out. For something savoury, Kürtősh’s selection of flaky pastries are sure to hit the spot, with highlights including capsicum and parmesan, grilled eggplant, and cheesy ricotta and fetta. There are also a range of delicious slab cakes that are conveniently sold by weight, making it easy to try a bite of all your top picks or go all-in with one of your guilty (or not so guilty) pleasures. The selection at Kürtősh is ever-changing, so make sure you indulge in your favourites while they are available!

Kürtősh House in West End is open Monday to Sunday from 7am to 10pm, making this the perfect destination for a morning coffee, late-night sugar hit, and everything in between. With the added opening of Anita Gelato across the lane, this calls for a trip to Europe right in West Village!
