After a snap lockdown, it’s time to enter a new month in delicious style!

Whether you’re ready to get out and about following three solid days of takeaway (admirable) or you’re just keen to make the most of winter comfort eating, read on for some unmissable specials, events, and new spots to try in July!

Say bonjour to Ooh La La

Ascend the stairs past heritage chimneys and facades to be greeted by a sleek, Parisian-style rooftop bar! The upstairs sibling of the iconic C’est Bon, Ooh La La is all about snacks, champagne, and views of the southside. Read more and plan your trip here.

Bastille Day dining

Not that you needed an excuse to indulge in buttery, cheesy French cuisine, but it’s Bastille Day on the 14th! ZA ZA TA’s new chef and winter menu

After their transition to a completely vegetarian menu in August last year, Za Za Ta has welcomed a new chef and a new winter menu! Previously up at the stunning Nu Nu in Palm Cove, Michael Jackson has brought a real farm-to-plate ethic to the funky Valley spot, with highlights including decadent jackfruit, leek and thyme dumplings with whipped spiced potato cream and charred corn, and smoked eggplant h’raime with spiced braised tomato. Riverbar and Kitchen’s Winter Lodge

Apres-ski, but make it riverside! This pop-up with 4 Pines and Aperol features the likes of fondue, brownie s’mores and mulled cider, with some seriously cosy fire pit tables brought in for the occasion. Read more about this ultimate winter escape here.

The Night Noodle Markets return

A staple on all good foodies’ calendars, the Good Food Month Night Noodle Markets will be popping up in the City Botanic Gardens from Wednesday, July 21 until Sunday, August 1. There’ll be local and national stallholders serving up everything from flying noodles (IYKYK) to dumplings, skewers and sweets. Read more about this year’s event here.

The Bavarian’s winter platters

If your idea of comfort food is protein (and lots of it), we have good news for you! The Bavarian has introduced five loaded platters for winter, including the Bavarian Tasting Platter laden with crackling pork belly, The Bavarian’s famous pork knuckle, German sausages, chicken schnitzel and trimmings like sauerkraut, red cabbage, creamy mashed potato, apple compote and delicious bier jus.
