French Restaurants Brisbane
We’ve rounded up the best French around—l’escargot!

No need to addle your brain over la, le, and les any longer! The only article you need to conquer the Romance language that is French food is ours. Read on to discover our round-up of Brisbane’s best French restaurants below.

MONTRACHET | BOWEN HILLS

With chef Shannon Kellam at the helm of Montrachet, it’s no wonder this little slice of Parisian paradise has been whipping up decadent desserts such as the Chocolat de passion of MasterChef fame for the past decade. Further please the palate with a double-baked soufflé filled with crab meat and gruyére cheese, seafood Marseille bouillabaisse, and voila! Bon Appetit.

BISOU BISOU | FORTITUDE VALLEY

You’re hearing it from the mouth of babes, Brisbane! The newest French kid on the block, Bisou Bisou, blows a kiss to traditional Parisian cuisine with stunners such as croque monsieur for breakfast, steak frites for lunch and a sole à la Grenobloise for dinner. Give them a peck from us when you check them out this weekend.

AQUITAINE BRASSERIE | SOUTH BRISBANE

Oh, Ratatouille; if there’s a mouse behind the delights coming out of this South Bank brasserie we’re turning a blind eye. Specialising in traditional French fare like escargot with confit garlic, eye fillet tartare and classic crème brûlée, this is one riverside location that’ll have you saying ‘ooh la la!’

  • C’EST BON
LA BELLE VIE BISTRO | BARDON

The inner west loves living la vie en rosé, and with the fab food coming out of La Belle Vie bistro, it’s no wonder! Stuff yourself silly with house-made salmon gravlax carpaccio, honey and spice duck breast and apple tarte Tatin. Channel your inner DJ Khalid and pop bottles of Laurent-Perrier, you deserve it.

BOUCHER | GRACEVILLE

So charming, so chic, and so much champagne! This little suburban bistro is bursting full of flavour, boasting the likes of chateaubriand steak for two topped with foie gras, duck confit with braised French lentils, and nuss tarte with espresso ice cream. Whether it’s dinner, dessert, or a five-course degustation you’re after, booking a booth at Boucher is always the answer.

C’EST BON | WOOLLOONGABBA

Emily in Paris, eat your heart out; the winner of best French makeover goes to C’est Bon, who not only moved to a new location in Woolloongabba, but also underwent a re-brand, a refurb, and relaunch with extra function spaces to boot! Soufflé or soirée? Enjoy both at this better than good restaurant!

LA CACHE À VÍN | SPRING HILL

This Spring Hill restaurant-come-wine store is turning heads with its amazing wine list, simple but refined menu, and warm ambience generated by both staff and the surroundings. Expect French favourites like mille-feuille with escargot and quail fricassee. As for the wine? We’re talking over 250 burgundies lining the walls, and 50 champagnes chilling on ice – unsurprising considering the venue’s name translates to ‘a stash of wine’.

Whip out that beret and practise rolling those r’s, life is better when there’s champagne involved!
