Where to get a cheap meal because you just paid rent

Boujee on a budget!

Between rent and petrol prices (seriously, aren’t they insane?!) it’s tough out there. But, we’re here to get you through with a list of Brisbane’s best cheap eats.

You’re welcome.

Cheeky Poke Bar  | West Village, West End

You all know and love a classic corn taco, but have you ever tried a nori or wonton taco? You know the seaweed you get around sushi? Yeah – a taco made of that! Enjoy one taco for $8, two for $15, three for $20 or… special $5 tacos every Tuesday! With choices of filling including salmon, wagyu beef, and kingfish marinated in coconut and lime, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Downtown Istanbul Takeaway Deal | Hawthorne

Hawthorne’s very own Turkish bazaar has been treating locals to traditional pides, grilled meats and Turkish pizzas for years. Get your Turkish treats takeaway and save 15% off your order for lunch or dinner. Even better, get one of their massive burgers and chips for lunch to takeaway (served until 4pm) – at an already affordable price these lunches are an absolute steal!

Jade Buddha |  Brisbane CBD

Waterside views and all you can eat dumplings… it doesn’t get better than this. On Tuesdays grab a $10 lunch from 12-1 or dinner from 6-7 and inhale all the dumplings your stomach can fit.

Govindas | CBD and West End

Not for profit Govindas is one of the most popular, healthy (and affordable) veggie options around. Chow down on one of their feast meals (keyword feast) from $10 – $16, as well as an array of veggie treats. To keep you fed for the entire week, pick up a pack of 30 of their frozen samosas or spinach and feta rolls for only $30! Bargain.

Remy’s | Paddington

Remy’s in Paddington already serves up delicious and affordable burgers ranging from $12 – $15 (with the option of making your beef burger a double…IYKYK). But, to really get the most bang for your buck, head to Remy’s between 4:30-5:30pm every Sunday and get a FREE cheeseburger with any burger purchase!

If that wasn’t enough, all our plant-based readers can rejoice with all veggie burgers at half price on Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm (maths: that makes the burgers $7/$7.50)!

La Stazione Pizzeria & Bar | Milton

Authentic and affordable Italian meals? Mamma mia! Get yourself through the first half of the week with La Stazione’s $15 pasta on Tuesdays and $15 pizza on Wednesdays – what a treat!

This romantic atmosphere is guaranteed to take a big pizza your heart, not your wallet.

Upper Deck | Bulimba

Indulge in wings to your heart’s content at the bustling Oxford St hub, Upper Deck. On Wednesdays, smash through 50 cent wings from 3pm until late! That’s right – every wing is only 50 cents. It’s clucking marvellous!

KFC | Various

It’s cheap, it’s cheerful, it’s finger lickin’ good! You can’t beat a bit of the classic Kentucky Fried Chicken once in a while, and at bargain bucket prices, why would you want to? For the lowdown on their ever changing im-peck-able deals, download the KFC app.

Harajuku Gyoza  | Southbank

It’s the gyoza kings themselves. Harajuku Gyoza have got all your dumpling desires down pat. Save your money with $1 dumplings on Mondays (yes, $1) and 2 for 1 gyoza plates on Tuesdays. With an already affordable menu, dig in to your heart’s content without worrying about your final bill.

Midweek fiesta, anyone?

Cafe O’Mai | Annerley

Banh mis, phos, and salads, oh mai! Arguably, one of the most delicious Vietnamese eateries in Brisbane, there’s no wonder Cafe O’Mai is incredibly popular (so make sure to get there early or order your takeaway in advance). Between affordable refreshing vermicelli noodle salads, warm and tangy phos, mouthwatering mains and their crunchy banh mis (aka the best and biggest sandwich you will ever eat for $8.50), Cafe O’Mai is the place to be.

Burmese Fusion | Stones Corner

Treat yourself to the tantalising tastes of Burmese fusion without setting foot out of Brisbane. Whether you’re craving curries or noodles, stir frys or soup, Burmese Fusion have you covered with none of the main base menu items averaging at $13.90. These are things we love to hear.
