We may have to wait another month for Santa to come, but with so much fun to be had for Brisbane foodies, November is sure to be one to remember!
Jack Daniel’s Southern Schnitzel | The Bavarian
We didn’t think schnitzels could get any better until we heard about Jack Daniel’s Southern Schnitzel, a monthly special available from Tuesday, November 3.
The Bavarian has given the classic dish a makeover, and it’s a crispy Southern-spiced dream. Think lightly spiced buttermilk and yoghurt brined chicken breast doused in a blend of 10 spices and deep-fried until deliciously crunchy, accompanied by chipotle spiced potato gems, creamy cabbage slaw and a generous serve of Frank’s hot sauce & Jack Daniel’s BBQ sauce. What a meal!
GOMA Restaurant reopens | November 4
After an extended closure (that old chestnut of 2020), GOMA Restaurant is ready to reopen with a revised concept on Wednesday, November 4. Exective Chef Doug Innes-Will and Head Chef Matt Blackwell have mixed things up, moving away from the structured courses previously offered to instead plate up a range of dishes, in both size and style, to be ordered as guests choose (with a shared chefs menu on offer for $60pp for those who hate choosing)!
Sausage and Beer Festival | Little Stanley Street
Snags and beer? Yes, please! Thanks to The Charming Squire, you can spend the weekend of November 7-8 sampling gourmet sausages from across the globe. Pair ’em with a craft beer and make yourself comfortable on the lawn at Little Stanley Street, as there’ll be live tunes to enjoy all day (with kids welcome, too). More details are available here.
Christmas markets | Various locations
Everyone’s fave markets are helping us to get into the Christmas spirit with the return of their hugely-popular Christmas twilight markets! Whethere you hit up Kuraby (Friday 13), Beenleigh (Friday 20), Redcliffe (featuring fireworks on Saturday 21), Carseldine (Friday 27), or Milton (Saturday 28), you’re guaranteed to have a jolly time with a selection of gourmet eats and drinks (Christmas-themed, of course), artisan gift stalls, fresh Christmas produce, snaps with Santa, live entertainment and kids activities. Oh, and there’s even a pop-up bar at Milton!
Silk Road Degustations | Botero House
Inspired by the ancient silk routes that blend modern techniques and fresh Aussie produce with ancient cooking traditions, these pop-up degustations at Botero House are not to be missed! With availability remaining for Saturday, November 21, guests can expect the likes of Pacific oysters dressed with pomegranate, ashwagandha and onion oil, kangaroo tartare with black rice puff and mushroom ketchup, and fried tandoori chicken with burnt butter, seaweed, milk and caviar for just $89, with an optional drink pairing also available. Cherry Blossom Garden | Fridays Riverside
This is the closest we’ll get to jetting off to Japan anytime soon! Fridays Riverside is bringing Tokyo to us with the launch of their Cherry Blossom Garden. The famous Fridays courtyard will be transformed into a Japanese wonderland, decked out in cherry blossoms, lanterns and a special menu of Japanese-fusion bites and limited-edition sips, including a cherry blossom slushie *insert cherry blossom emoji here*!
Good Food Month events | Various locations and dates
Celebrate some of Brisbane’s brightest venues with Good Food Month, bringing a range of exclusive one-off events to Brisbane throughout November! While plenty have already sold out, tickets remain to some including a reunion dinner featuring Louis Tikaram (Stanley), Adam Wolfers (Gerard’s Bistro) and Alex Munoz Labart (Labart) catching up on antics from working at Sydney’s Bentley, as well as an all-vegetarian Young Chefs Lunch at Za Za Ta.
