People's choice: Brisbane's best plant-based venues

Plant perfection!

No need to be green with envy – here is our list of the best plant-based spots around.

Dicki’s | Ascot and New Farm

Choosing a favourite at Dicki’s is oh so tricky thanks to their incredible range. Stop in at either of their locations to try any of their all-day breakfast options, featuring flavours from Mexico, Italy, and Asia in addition to all the classics…with a green twist of course.

Try the breakfast burrito or green ‘eggs’ on Turkish!

The Cardamom Pod | Broadbeach and Southport

The Cardamom Pod has something to satisfy you at every time of day. Come in for breakfast and try a snickers acai bowl or a probiotic dosa crepe, swing by at lunchtime to try something from the ever changing menu, or cool down in the afternoon with ice cream from their 100 percent plant-based Mylk Bar.

Whatever you try, it’s sure to be delicious.

El Planta | South Brisbane

Choosing veggie options shouldn’t mean you have to sacrifice range, and with a menu that rotates in new options every single week, El Planta is the place to go to broaden your plant-based horizons. Get those taste buds dancing with beautifully fresh Mexican food that the whole table will love – be it a taco or share plate, this spot will be your new weekly hangout.

Your body will thank you for it, too.

Plant Vibes | Bowen Hills

Bring your dog with you when you visit Plant Vibes to try their fresh take on plant-based food. Sweet and savoury fans alike will be satisfied with a menu featuring blueberry custard brioche french toast, and satay “duck” rolls. Y-U-M!

The best part about Plant Vibes? Everything on the menu is plant-based, so regardless of your menu choice, you’ll be doing yourself (and the planet) a huge favour. You can even pick up another house plant while you’re there!

Charlie’s Raw Squeeze | Various Locations

Charlie’s Raw Squeeze is here to make your tummy happy with its range of delightful drinks and special deals. As the weather starts to cool down, try one of the items from their new winter warmers menu like the apple crumble porridge, or ignore the temperature and sip on a smoothie full of goodness.

With multiple locations, you should get yourself to one now!

Grown | West End

With a focus on sustainability and ethical practices, Grown is a spot you can trust to serve you the finest food around. While the ingredients are locally grown, the menu is anything but, featuring dishes such as congee with kimchi, slow roasted tomato, asian greens, woodland mushrooms, ginger, soy, and mustard, as well as more classic options.

Eating clean has never tasted so good.

Yavanna | Paddington

If you aren’t awake for breakfast, Yavanna has you covered for lunch and dinner. Keep things colourful with the hoisin duck salad, or for a more hearty feed try the nacho bean bowl. Make your night out a little less naughty with anything from their 100 percent plant-based menu.

Enoki Coffee Co | Stafford Heights

A new spot that opened up during the pandemic, and it’s already got people hooked. With a menu that boasts some of the highest quality ingredients around (for incredible prices), you can find it all at Enoki.

They also make the best panko-fried mushrooms around, so make sure you give them a whirl.

Detour | Woolloongabba

For fine dining that everyone can enjoy, Detour is the place to be. With a menu split into herbivore and omnivore sides (with nearly everything on both being gluten free), this is where you need to take your non-vego friends. Show off your foodie flare by trying the coal-roasted broccoli with miso, spinach, seaweed and quinoa, or the Hawaiian curry.

We’ll certainly be taking a detour on the way home to go here.

Greenhouse Canteen | South Brisbane

Ever since Greenhouse Canteen landed in Aus direct from Columbus, USA, we’ve been obsessed. Not only does it have an amazing dine-in menu that the whole gang will love, their ‘In House’ menu is perfect for the nights when you can’t be bothered going out.

The InHouse set of five meals for $70 features their top five bestsellers from the menu (think mac n cheese, tikka masala and stuffed sweet potato), served in microwave safe and biodegradable packaging. A win for you and for the planet.

They’ve also got $10 margs on Tuesdays!

Paw Paw Cafe | Woolloongabba

Ok, we’re technically cheating with this one as it’s not specifically plant-based, but we couldn’t leave Paw Paw Cafe out with its amazing plant-based options. Open from 7 am – 3 pm every day, and for dinner on Wednesday to Sunday from 5 pm – late, Paw Paw is one of the best places around to take your friends who want to eat a little differently.

The Malaysian yellow curry is a must!
