Best of Stafford & Stafford Heights

The suburban lifestyle of “settling” is no more. Beyond the corner stores and school runs, the ‘burbs are a thriving metropolis of emerging gourmet treats and engaging art delights – and the northside precinct of Stafford is leading the charge. Anybody for Southeast Asian fusion and world-class gelato?
Oh Boy, Bok Choy! | 264 Stafford Road

Stafford Road’s emerging makeover has largely been spearheaded by the team behind Farmhouse Kedron’s latest venture: Oh Boy Bok Choy. Serving up mouthwatering dinner dishes and signature cocktails (anyone for a spicy margarita?) seven nights a week – and providing all-day lunches Friday through Sunday – the fusion kitchen embraces the nature of sharing food. With must-try items like their make your own bao buns and popcorn cauliflower with chilli caramel sauce, as well as expansive parking on site, we can’t think of any reason you won’t want to say “Oh Boy!” to Bok Choy.

Prova Pizzeria | 61 Willgarning Street

No longer an unlucky figure, 13 is the new fortune as it sums up the number of pizzas on offer at Prova Pizzeria. Boasting authentic flavour combinations, such as the gamberi with tomato, mozzarella, chilli, garlic prawns, rocket and cherry tomato, alongside 100 layered lasagna and espresso tiramisu. You’ll truly feel as if you’ve stepped into your own Roman holiday.

Elixir Coffee Roasters | 12 Hayward Street

We’re not sure if it’s their delicious menu or a love elixir, but this coffee house has got us falling head over heels. Our romance with the family-owned roasting house began when we heard about their specialty brews and developed into a full-blown relationship over brunch. Their breakfast classics were enough to make us want a second date, but the gingerbread pancakes with chantilly cream, lemon curd, seasonal fruits, hazelnut praline, butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream sealed the deal. Things are getting so serious, we’re shopping for rings.

Pod Espresso | 275 Stafford Road

Feeling a little depresso without your morning espresso? Don’t worry, because Stafford has delivered the caffeinated goods with Pod Espresso. This hole-in-the-wall café will put a smile on your dial with their smooth coffee, wholesome light breakfasts and quick lunches. Grab an acai bowl to stop you from acai-ing over that Monday morning grind, or the sweet potato cakes to put a little sweetness into the Friday struggle.

Fuzzy Duck | 145 Kitchener Road

Don’t pluck out your feathers over where to choose when it comes to your weekend brunches; this Kedron staple’s all-day breakfasts, eclectic lunch menu and weekly specials mean all you’ll be deciding is what to eat. We’re quite partial to their unique spin on the eggs Benedict (the rosti Benedict) and their mouthwatering Reuben sandwich. Ducking beautiful!
