And Just Like That...Best of how to drink like a (Sex and the) City girl

Brissie's supplying more cocktail choices than Carrie had manolo blahniks...

It’s been 25 years since we said “Hello lover” to the grand quartet that was Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York in the groundbreaking series, Sex and the City.

Now (mostly) reunited for the secondary series, And Just Like That… sees Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte a little older, a little wiser, but still sexually navigating their new lives as a trio in the big apple of New York City; don’t worry Sam fans, she’s coming back for a special appearance at the end of this season!

As much as the girls have changed – Carrie is now widowed, Miranda is exploring newfound love with a non-binary partner, and Charlotte is married with two increasingly inquisitive teenagers – their outlook on love and their love for out-looking everyone with heightened fashion has remained the same.

To celebrate the brand new season – which will not only see an appearance from Samantha, but Carrie’s love Aidan too – we want to give all you Brisbanites your very own City experience with a look at where you can go to drink like your favourite character.  Personally, I think I’m a mix of all four!

SOPHISTICATED COCKTAIL CO. | COSMO CARRIE COSMOPOLITAN – ONLINE

As much as Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie loves to go out and drink her signature Cosmopolitan cocktail, as a writer – and now podcaster – she’s just as likely to be found staying in and enjoying an in-home tipple.  The Sophisticated Cocktail Co. have you covered in that department with their Cosmo Carrie Cosmopolitan cocktail kit.  With grapefruit and rose-influenced vodka, this Manhattan classic is now just as sweet as the character that’s made her famous.

JULIUS PIZZERIA | A MIRANDA SPRITZ – GREY STREET, SOUTH BRISBANE

Not necessarily the drink she’d be seen ordering – although now that she’s a sunny LA resident she might be inclined to – we see this fiery Italian-based cocktail as a spiritual incarnation of Miranda’s own sweet and bitter personality.  And where better to indulge in this zesty beverage than at one of Brisbane’s most celebrated Italian restaurants, Julius Pizzeria.

THE GRESHAM BAR | CLASSIC CHARLOTTE – QUEEN STREET, BRISBANE CITY

As The Gresham states itself, it’s an establishment that has a progressive view on drinks – it establishes trends without following them.  As a blend of classic hospitality with an open-view, Charlotte is perfectly emulated through this historical Brisbane City hideout that serves the highest calibre of rum, whiskey and wine in the country.  We think Charlotte would approve.

VIVA LA CALI | SPICY SAMANTHA – CALIFORNIA LANE, FORTITUDE VALLEY

As the great Samantha Jones one stated, “I’ll try anything once!” And with that in mind, the show’s fallen(ish) angel(ish) lives on in spirit – and, as aforementioned, in a cameo this season.  She may not be alongside her regular gal pals, but she’ll always be synonymous with Sex and the City, so we couldn’t possibly leave her off the list when it comes to drinking like a Jones. Tucked away in California Lane, Brisbane’s hottest new margarita bar, Viva La Cali, perfectly embodies the unpredictable nature of Kim Cattrall’s iconic character with the Spiced Pear margarita, a sweet tasting concoction complete with a cinnamon enhanced rim.

And Just Like That… Season 2 is currently streaming on a weekly basis on Binge.
