The Team Behind Bar Alto Brings You Bosco…

Expect European eats, wine and steaming crusty bread at this rustic Newstead warehouse.

Newstead has a new kid in town, Bosco Wine Grill, helmed by the brains and brawn of New Farm’s beloved Bar Alto, Simon Hill.

Alto’s new sibling venture goes back to basics and they do it pretty darn well with their whole menu centering around the base of every good meal: bread. In fact, Bosco has settled in to what used to be Richard and Caroline Cotton’s bakehouse – longtime bread suppliers to Alto. The converted warehouse makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in with its warm industrial look and brick facade.

And just as warming as the architecture is their food – the real reason to visit Bosco. The menu is switched up depending on what local produce is up for grabs, but you can expect a lethal combo of flavours from France, Italy and Spain in their dishes.

Try the likes of quail, boudin blanc and burnt apple or calamari tagliatelle, morcilla and baby peas. And we give a big hat tip to Bosco for their vast offering of cheese boards – it makes for a classic pairing with their brew bread and Bosco butter.

Bosco also has it covered in the wine department, offering a changing menu of quality tipples to pair with their nibbles. You can expect Australian and New Zealand wines to join the ranks of their European offerings too. They go down pretty smoothly…
