Why the QLD Music Trails' Scenic Rim Trail Is One of Brisbane’s Best Weekend Getaways for 2025

Looking for a weekend escape that blends live music, great food and wine, culture, and family-friendly fun, all less than two hours from Brisbane? The QLD Music Trails: Scenic Rim is your perfect excuse to pack a bag, hit the road, and take the scenic route. Spanning three unique events, this trail celebrates everything we love about regional Queensland: connection, creativity, and unforgettable experiences.

QLD Music Trails: Scenic Rim is back this Spring season 2025 to present you a perfect weekend away. Here’s your guide to the highlights.

1. The Long Sunset

From 31 October to 2 November 2025, The Long Sunset, a three-day festival of live music, art, and hands-on activities is kicking off at Boonah. The lineup includes some of Australia’s brightest stars like Boy & Bear, Vera Blue, Gretta Ray, The Buoys, Jem Cassar-Daley, Tjaka, The Vernons, Playlunch, Bunny Racket, and more.

Also joining the 2025 lineup are Paper Lane and Silk ‘N’ Oak. These emerging artists captured the hearts of the community and earned their place on the festival stage. Beyond the main sets, you’ll catch original works by members of the I Heart Songwriting Club, the genre-defying energy of Ben Barker fusing didgeridoo and guitar, and a global party set from Billie Weston. Get involved at Andrea Kirwin’s Open Mic, or discover rising alt-R&B star Rhys Rich!

Apart from the music, Silent Disco will keep the dancefloor alive after dark, while Gilly’s Line Dancing brings all-in boot scootin’ fun. Across the site, you’ll find roving performances like Miss Bubbles with her trail of giant shimmering bubbles, hands-on workshops including an inclusive art session with Sip & Create Tamborine Mountain, and nature-led learning at the Frog Hotel Workshop with Watergum. Early risers can ground themselves with free morning yoga.
