4 foodie ways to make the most of Scenic Rim Eat Local Week

Pull on the boots, throw on a jacket, and enjoy some fresh winter air in the country!

A staple of Brisbane foodies’ annual calendar, Scenic Rim Eat Local Week is the perfect excuse to enjoy a road trip to one of Brisbane’s closest and most diverse food-producing regions.

With such a jam-packed program of events on the calendar from June 26 to July 4, we’ve picked some stand-outs to suit a few different types of foodies…

Picnic in the petals with alpacas | Sunday, June 27 | Pretty Produce with Mountview Alpaca

Tasty food surrounded by flowers and… alpacas? Your dream comes true at this one-off event with Devonshire teas, flower-studded cookies and flower crowns on offer, as well as walks with alpacas! Tickets are $10 and available here.

Scenic Sunset Canapés | Saturday, June 26 | Milford Country Cottage 

Pack up the picnic rug and prepare to soak in some views with a glass of Bunjurgen Estate wine in hand! Tickets are $99 and include six canapés, dessert and a glass on arrival, and there’ll be a bar available too. 

Scenic Rim Picnic Boxes | All week | Picnic Real Food Bar

Feeling a picnic while you’re in the area? Pull up a spot in a park or lookout (or sneaky roadside site… we all do it!) for a picnic box loaded with local goodies! There’s an option with pastries, fruit and cheese, a sweet and savoury pastries box, or an option with charcuterie, dips and cheese, all for $40 for 2. Beer Banter | Saturday, 26 and Sunday, 27 June | Scenic Rim Brewery

Enjoy a chinwag with SRB’s brewer Mike, who will share his his weird and wonderful knowledge of all things beer! It’s free to sit in, and you can purchase bevs and food from the bar. Book your table here!

Wine, cheese and cider tastings | All week | Witches Falls Winery 

Sample the good stuff, made on site at Tamborine Mountain’s only working winery! Six tastings are available for just $10, and you can enjoy glasses of your favourite with your choice of cheeses, chutneys and crackers. You can reserve a spot here.

Cocktail masterclasses | Saturday, June 26 and Saturday, July 3 | Tamborine Mountain Distillery

Get flirty with the fundamentals of mixology in this hands-on class! You’ll work your way through two classic cocktails with the group before enjoying the freedom to craft your own, using local ingredients and Tamborine Mountain Distillery’s own spirits and liqueurs. After the class, you can kick back and enjoy your own cocktail accompanied by a gourmet Scenic Rim platter. Places are $85, limited to 10 per class, and available here!

Longest Lunch | Sunday, June 27 | O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards

Enjoy lunch in this tranquil setting by Canungra Creek with a three-course lunch and two-hour drinks package. There’s Running Creek Beef osso bucco, slow-cooked lamb by Towri Sheep Farm, and a lemon tart using vineyard-grown lemons on the menu! Buy tickets here by June 20.

Country Heart & Soul Dinner | Saturday, June 26 | Running Creek Beef

It doesn’t get more paddock-to-plate than a dinner on the farm! Running Creek Beef’s starlit dinner will include a farm tour, five-course meal accompanied by O’Reilly’s wines, and will wrap up around the cosy fire pit! See what’s on the menu and nab your $130 ticket here.

Kalbar-BQ | Saturday, June 26 | Kalbar

This long table lunch will feature the work of The Shank Brothers, with local produce cooked over live fire and smoke for a theatrical experience! Proceeds from the bar will go to the Kalbar Progress Association (so you can enjoy a drink for a good cause) and there’ll be live music and plenty of goodies to sample as well! Jamming with the Lambs | Saturday, June 26 | Towri Sheep Cheese

Always a highlight on the Eat Local Week calendar, Jamming with the Lambs is all about celebrating beautiful locally sourced produce while being captivated by the magic of Towri. There’ll be live jazz, local wines, a multi-course meal and, of course, plenty of photo opps with the locals! Learn more and book in here.

For the kids
Farm tour and picnic lunch | All week | Summer Land Camels

Explore the BTS of Australia’s largest camel farm, meeting the camels and learning about camel milk. Lunch will include award-winning smallgoods served with a beer, wine or soft drink and a gelato for dessert for the grown-ups, while kids can choose between a burger or hot dog and chips including a soft drink or a juice and gelato for dessert. Beaudesert Street Food Festival | Saturday, June 26 | Beaudesert

Because who doesn’t love a small-town festival! There’ll be food trucks serving up local ingredients, plenty of food and wares to browse to take home, and entertainment and activities to keep the kids busy all day. 

Little Farmer Humpty Day | Monday, June 28 | Summer Land Camels

Dress up the little ones in their best Farmer Joe outfits for this one; there’ll be a kids farm tour (a bit shorter than usual to keep things interesting!), camel feeding and patting, and plenty of activities and kid-friendly food! Tickets are $10 (including a bag of camel feed) and you can add on camel rides for $20, too. Plan your day here.
