Suburban foodies: Everton Park

In recent times Everton Park has gone through quite the transformation.

Thanks to a new, purpose-built laneway dining precinct, christened Everton Plaza, a diverse mix of restaurants and bars continue to pop up.

5 Boroughs

Taking inspiration from the streets of the Big Apple, 5 Boroughs dishes up an array of drool-worthy, calorie-loaded American fare. Located in the newly renovated Everton Plaza, enjoy flavoursome burgers, tender steaks, moreish smoked pork ribs, NYC sandwiches, waffle cut chips and hot chicken wings, just to name a few! Behind the bar, quench your thirst with your choice of eight tap beers, premium spirits, classic New York-style cocktails, bottomless iced tea or homemade lemonade as you watch all of your favourite sports live on the bar’s three big screens.

Comuna Cantina

One of the newest additions to the neighbourhood is much-loved Latin American-inspired eatery, Comuna Cantina. Like its CBD location, Comuna Cantina’s menu features a range of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos and hot bowls designed for grazing, along with oh so many tempting cocktails and mocktails. Plus, make sure to wear your dancing shoes if visiting on a Sunday, as every second Sunday Comuna Cantina hosts a pumping salsa dancing session promising to get everyone up and shimmying in no time!

Tetto Rooftop Bar

It’s always Aperol o’clock at Tetto Rooftop Bar. Freshly opened in Everton Plaza, Tetto brings the sun-soaked coastal bars of Italy to the heart of the northside! Expect loads of rustic Italian aesthetics and a menu fuelled by summer flavours, with a focus on refreshing cocktails. The bolognese arancini will have you drooling, and the Nutella cannoli is a perfect match for a cold-drip espresso martini to finish. Buon appetito!

Sweeties – Cakes, Pies, Patisserie

Sweeties – Cakes, Pies, Patisserie has been baking up some of the best birthday cakes, pastries and bread in Brisbane for over a decade, but now they’re doing it from a fresh new location in Everton Park. For all your baked good needs, Sweeties is the place to head with a glass cabinet overflowing with an assortment of cupcakes, danishes, tarts and brownies, and rows of golden sausage rolls, gourmet pies, and sandwiches made fresh on site. Owners Nguyen and Thuy Le operate with the mantra ‘enjoy life, eat cake’, and frankly they are words to live by (and we do)!

Acai Brothers Superfood Bar

Looking for a delicious and healthy fast food alternative? Australia’s leading superfood bar franchise, Acai Brothers Superfood Bar is where to head, specialising in protein packed acai bowls, smoothies, juices, coffee, and raw treats. Live your best, most healthy and happy life by ordering the Ain’t Nothin’ Butter, with an acai, banana, raw peanut butter, cacao base and topped with COYO coconut yoghurt, choc buckini, cacao nibs, PB sauce and three fruits, and the Morning Starter packed full of apple, spinach, kiwi, lemon and cucumber.

Smokin Joes Coffee and Pizza Bar

Whether it’s to satisfy your caffeine cravings or, rather, your pizza ones, Smokin Joes Coffee and Pizza Bar has you covered, with a café pouring Merlo coffee and snacks (to go or dine in) and a fully licensed bar serving delicious thin base gourmet pizzas, cold beer and wine. We recommend visiting on a Wednesday night for all you can eat pizza (some of our favourite words).

Sichuan Papa

Meet Sichuan Papa: the newcomer that offers friendly neighbourhood vibes with bold flavours that promise to spice up your life. Bringing you the exotic aromas of China’s Sichuan region, head chef Tiger Zheng takes you on a culinary journey through space and time. Serving dishes from his childhood that he has perfected through the years, adding his own modern touch to home-style cooking. Featuring the likes of xiao long baos, their signature crispy chilli chicken, decadent Sichuan eggplant and delicious mapo tofu, you’ll be feeling at home while downing some ridiculously good food. Sichuan Papa is set to become your new fave local Chinese!

For ever and Everton, amen.
