1. Pick your own strawberries
Nothing says spring quite like a punnet of fresh strawberries. At Oasis Berries near Bribie Island, you can fill a box for the family, join in on the kids’ treasure hunt, and indulge in strawberry ice cream, cupcakes and chocolate-dipped treats. Best of all, you can nibble as you pick.
2. Play without limits
Burpengary’s Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre (CREEC) is home to one of the region’s most inclusive playgrounds, designed for every child to enjoy. There are musical play zones, sensory spaces, imaginative play equipment and even a nocturnal room to explore indoors. Entry is free, making it a win for parents too.
3. Feast on wholesome food
Right across the road from CREEC, Project Salubrious serves up nourishing, locally sourced meals that kids and parents will both love. Chef Kurt Lovell brings his fine dining background to the table with gluten-free, grain-free dishes that do not compromise on flavour.
4. Go back in time
The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology lets kids travel through history without leaving Caboolture. This September, Viking Family Fun Week adds extra excitement with archery, archaeological digs, crafts and runic carving. A little bit of learning mixed with a lot of fun.
5. Spot the last of the whales
September is the final chance to see whales before they head back south. Hop aboard Brisbane Whale Watching at Redcliffe Jetty and look out for mothers and calves cruising through the bay. It is one of the best ways to round off the season.
6. Strike a pose in the sunflowers
For a golden day out, head to Teembin Pines Farm where fields of blooming sunflowers make the perfect backdrop for family photos. Pick a bunch to take home and know that your selfies are helping bees, soil health and local ecosystems thrive.
✨ Whether your family prefers fresh strawberries, Viking adventures or sunflower selfies, Moreton Bay has plenty of school holiday fun to explore just up the road from Brisbane.
