Hotel X set to welcome sky-high tapas bar Iris

Could this be the Brisbane bar with the best view?

Come Wednesday, May 5, Fortitude Valley’s Hotel X will be well and truly topped off with the launch of Iris, a glam tapas restaurant and bar boasting a boutique private dining room, exclusive bungalows and plenty of poolside Insta-potential.

The menu by Ghanem Group executive chef Jake Nicolson and Iris’ own head chef Lloyd Evans focuses on Mediterranean flavours using quality Aussie produce, like crayfish tails with guanciale and smoked chorizo butter, Moroccan-spiced toothfish tacos with cabbage and fennel slaw and preserved lemon mayo, and barbecue pork ribs with a macadamia honey glaze.

The same focus has gone into the cocktail menu, evoking coastal getaways across items like a rosé sangria and pink piña colada, with owner Nehme Ghanem saying, “We are incredibly excited to take Brisbane’s rooftop bar and restaurant experience to decadent new heights. Everything from Iris’ views and design to cuisine and entertainment is elevating the rooftop experience as you once knew it.”

Inside, Spanish-inspired plum, indigo and rose shades, as well as gold accents, provide a healthy dose of escapism, while outside elements like wisteria, olive plants and twinkling fairy lights deliver on the promise of Mediterranean luxury.

Iris opens on Wednesday, May 5—learn more and book your visit here.
