South Bank has turned bleu, blanc and rouge to celebrate all things French until the end of September. Here’s our picks of the very best French foods and festivities to sink your teeth into and feast your eyes on over the next few months.
Le Festival
From Friday July 5 to Sunday July 7, South Bank will be going full on French for Le Festival. Get ready for a feast of French delights – from tasty bites to boozy treats and unforgettable experiences that’ll have you saying “Ooh La La”.
Le Festival is bringing in big names for some French-themed masterclasses for the festival. C’est Bon Restaurant’s Head Chef, Andy Ashby, is hosting a French cooking class. La Maison Fleur’s Bart Hassam will teach French table art and floral arrangement. Plus, there’s a French-themed paint and sip class by Marcel Desbiens from Bienarté Fine Art School. Better snag your spot early – these classes fill up fast!
Don’t miss the festival’s French market stalls featuring everything from cuisine and wine to beer, champagne, art, perfume, and more. It’s all happening, so grab your tickets on their website, and join the fun!
Don’t worry if you missed out on Le Festival, because South Bank are keeping the French festivities going right through until the end of September.
The Jetty
It’s no secret that we j’adore some good wine and cheese. Lucky for us, The Jetty will be offering two Grey Goose Martinis with a deluxe three-cheese board for just $35.00. Need we say more?
Paris Tower
We’d forgive you if you mistook South Bank for Paris with this one. And although this four- storey tower may be a few metres shy of the real thing, we’re still very impressed. The coolest part is that during the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, every time an Australian athlete wins a medal, the tower will light up in either gold, silver or bronze!
Ole
Ole is serving up the French fiesta we never knew we needed. There will be a six-course lineup of Mount Zero olives, pan con tomate, wagyu cecina, croquetas, lamb skewers and patatas bravas with free-flowing French inspired drink options of Aix en Provence Rosé and French martinis for $90 – or be extra boujee by indulging in some Veuve Clicquot for $25 per glass.
Vici
Dive into a $90 bottomless brunch every Saturday and Sunday until the end of September. Indulge in five fantastic courses, accompanied by unlimited Aix en Provence Rosé and French martinis. It’s the ultimate French-themed outing to beat those winter blues.
OTTO
OTTO have gone all out with their premium French wine paired with the OTTO Tasting Menu for $199 per person. And at the OTTO Osteria, menu specials include Osteria twice-baked cheese soufflé for $24 and the French-inspired cocktail “Mon Cherie” (which is actually a French patisserie in a glass with sweet but tart strawberry and peach, plus croissant infused mascarpone milk punch – all expertly balanced) for $25. Now this is the ultimate French feast.
C’est Du Gâteau
We already know that C’est Du Gâteau is THE spot for French flavours in South Bank, but they’ll be taking things to a whole new level. A new Brisbane Roll pastry will be available each month for $9.50 – or you could get a regular croissant and coffee for $11. Head in on the weekends to try an EXTRA large croissant for $35 – this is literally our dream come true.
Harajuku Gyoza
Head over to Harajuku Gyoza to try the flavour crossover we never knew we needed. Their famous grilled pork gyoza will be served with hollandaise sauce to experience a blend of Japanese and French flavours in every bite. If you’re hesitant to try the combo, just take our word for it.
Make sure you try these specials before they say au revoir!
