Creamy butterscotch ice cream sandwiched between two freshly baked choc chip cookies cookies and sprinkled with candied bacon. Have we got your attention? Good, because we’re about to introduce you to Mister Fitz, and you’ll want to pay some notice.
From the man behind Chester Street, Doughnut Time, Les Bubbles and a slew of other venues, Damian Griffiths, Mister Fitz is a dessert lovers paradise, tucked away on Little Street in Fortitude Valley. Decked out like an old school milk bar in pink and white, the ice creamery is dishing up ice cream sandwiches and milkshakes like you’ve never seen them before.
You could just get a scoop or two of their house made ice cream, all created in store from fresh milk, cream and free range eggs in wild and wonderful flavours like Going to Miami (passionfruit mojito) or Hypnotize (banana, brown sugar and bacon). But what you really want to do is get it in an ice cream sandwich.
First, you choose your cookies, with freshly baked, chewy creations like choc chip, mini M&M and white chocolate. For serious decadence, you can opt for frozen cookie dough or brownies instead – or even get them both. Then, you choose your ice cream, before getting the whole epic dessert sprinkled with toppings like cookie crumbs, marshmallows, fruit loops and even French fries. Trust us when we say you won’t need dinner beforehand.
If you want to make a well-rounded meal of it, you can pair your ice cream sandwich with a wicked milkshake. Getting’ Jiggy Wit It blends milk and cookies ice cream, whipped cream, Hershey’s chocolate and Oreo cookies or you can really shake things up with a Gold Digger – banana, brown sugar and bacon ice cream, whipped cream, candied bacon, crushed crisps and a salted caramel drizzle. Dairy intolerant peeps should probably stay far, far away.
Once you’ve picked your sin (or sins), you can sit down in the cosy dining area to finish it off, under the watchful eyes of Mister Fitz himself who looks on from a portrait on the wall.
You’ll find Mister Fitz in Little Street in Fortitude Valley, open Monday to Sunday from 10am-10pm.
