A new addition to the fast-growing north side foodie scene, Fuller & Hutch is owned and run by ex-Popolo and Libertine chef Doug McGarry and his wife Kelly Fehlberg, who are also the masterminds behind the fabulous feeds at Wavell Heights locale, The Spotted Cod. Worth a wander to the other side of town, this pearl of a place is tucked away on Lutwyche Road, and offers both value for money bistro dining and takeaway options for those looking for a hearty meal on the go.

However, if you’ve got them pegged as ‘just another fish and chip shop’ you should definitely think again. Yes, you can get your go-to classic snapper, cod or whiting with a side of golden chips. Or you could mix it up and opt for mussels steamed in beer, garlic and thyme, or perhaps one of the scrumptious burgers on the menu (including a vegetarian one). But don’t worry, potato scallops are still on the menu.

Just swap your usual chips for some steamed rice and Asian greens, and maybe even get your barramundi steamed with orange and ginger butter.
