Grab a slice of Brisbane’s best pizza

Nothing tops a good slice of ‘za.

It’s there for you after a big night, it’s enjoyed by the metre with family and friends in celebration, and it makes for a cheap pre-payday feed after an internet hunt for coupon codes.

Brace yourself for meat that can’t be beat, wood-fired slices in all their glory, and unique combinations that’ll tickle your curiosity. Welcome to our top picks of Brisbane’s pizza scene.

RIVERBAR AND KITCHEN | CBD

For a classic pizza with just a tad more sophistication, their use of the freshest and finest makes Riverbar a go-to for Eagle St residents. The prosciutto and mozzarella pizza topped with fresh rocket and parmesan is divine. Soak up the vibrant atmosphere with a slice in one hand and a cold one in the other.

SUPERFLY PIZZA | WOOLLOONGABBA

This little laneway joint does classic Italian bases topped with mod flavours (and the wine list is pretty tops, too). We highly rate their pepperoni, especially when dipped in extra ranch! And since it’s a tough world out there, Superfly first-timers can nick a free roll of garlic goodness, which isn’t too bad either!

IL VERDE | FORTITUDE VALLEY

Looking for a great, classic Italian joint? Look no further than King Street’s famous Il Verde, and its wood-fired beauties. The capricciosa – a true Italian classic complete with a house-made tomato base, fior di latte, prosciutto, olives and shrooms. Just be sure to leave room for dessert: Nutella calzone…

MR. CHESTER WINE BAR | FORTITUDE VALLEY

You know what goes great with pizza? Wine (or do we just love wine that much?) Handily, being a wine bar first and foremost, Mr. Chester’s the goods to go with an almighty diavola – we’re talking passata, hot sauce, mozzarella and spicy sopressata. It’ll get hot in here!

SALT MEATS CHEESE | NEWSTEAD

This laidback burb’ is graced with the one and only angelic presence that is Salt Meats Cheese. Located in the Haven Building, you can tuck into a pescatora with friends – garlic prawns, basil pesto and soft mozzarella, or you could grab a Super Truffle Bros to go because it’s physically not possible to share. Enjoy the Italian porcini and truffle-loaded slices with a healthy dose of Love Island.

JULIUS PIZZERIA | SOUTH BRISBANE

A wood-fired pizza so good that you’ll forgo glancing at the specials board. Julius is the Italian pizzeria that brings us all things traditional with an A+ for execution. The amatriciana stacks up on mozzarella, tomato, pancetta, roasted red onion, and parmesan and, yes, more cheese – we can’t get enough of it. Seriously, help us.

BAR ALTO | NEW FARM

The main menu at Bar Alto is all about pasta and fresh, Italian dishes, while the bar menu is all about the ‘za, baby! Head to the bar, order a beer, cocktail or glass of vino, and enjoy the contemporary pizza offerings like Italian sausage, pickled Lombardo pepper and fior di latte on a red base, or zucchini flower, basil and plant-based mozzarella.

CORBETT & CLAUDE | EVERTON PARK, CBD, MT GRAVATT

For the likes of elevated classics like the much-contested Hawaiian pizza with smoked ham and pineapple on a fresh and doughy handmade base, Corbett and Claude is all about satisfying your cravings. In fact, their place on Elizabeth St offers $20 lunch specials on weekdays so you and your work besties can crack a slice and maybe even a midday beer!

LITTLE G | WOOLLOONGABBA

If the thought of a wagyu cheeseburger pizza doesn’t make you drool, we can’t be friends. Little G’s menu features pizza, pizza, and more pizza, with some wild toppings for “unpretentious” food! Turns out we have a big appetite when it comes to Little G.

Slice, slice, baby.
