Brisbane’s best bagels

It all starts with the perfect schmear.

We like ‘em big. We like ‘em filled with avo, bacon, haloumi, smoked salmon… You name it.

We’ve rounded up our favourite loaded bagels in Brisbane for your (and our own) brunching pleasure…

NYC BAGEL DELI | WEST END AND CHERMSIDE

The (big) apple of our eye, NYC Bagel Deli is serving up bagels that taste fresh out of Manhattan. Treat yourself to a pulled pork bagel, go all out with a club bagel or enjoy it open-style with a delicate avocado rose, dukkah, lime juice and Danish feta. If you’re feeling really gutsy, why not try their Elvis-inspired concoction, loaded up with bacon, peanut butter, banana, and cream cheese!?

CUPS ON MELBOURNE | SOUTH BRISBANE

When they’re not serving up cups of goodness, cheesey jaffles, decadent pastries and fresh acai bowls, the team at Cups on Melbourne are cooking up some tasty breaky bites, like their popular BLT bagel.

THE BAGEL BOYS | VARIOUS LOCATIONS

With locations across BNE offering a range of bagel flavours, schmears, and filings, The Bagel Boys’ traditional kettle-style bagels are some of the city’s most popular. Swing by early for a bacon-y start to your day, or make a visit at lunchtime and enjoy a delicious Reuben or smoked chicken bagel.

SCOUT CAFE | PETRIE TERRACE

This cosy Petrie Terrace spot offers a menu that is heavily bagel-dominated, with fillings ranging from smoked salmon with pickled red onion and jalapeño schmear, to a huge vegan boy with roast eggplant, pickled onion, rocket, dukkah, and pistacho, coriander and jalapeño schmear.

MY MISTRESS | CLAYFIELD

This seductive northside cafe offers a cheeky menu with three bagels on board. Choose from a decadent eggs Benedict piled onto a toasted bagel, the Morning Glory bagel with smoked bacon, egg, rocket, Swiss cheese, tomato relish and aioli, or go for a One Night Stand topped with smashed avo, smoked bacon, poached eggs, tomato and red onion salsa, and balsamic glaze.

HALLOWED GROUNDS ESPRESSO | MT GRAVATT

Not only do they whip up a perfect flat white every time, Hallowed Grounds Espresso also dishes up some impressive breaky–with a colourful menu that changes with the season. Their current breaky bagel is loaded up with a fried egg, bacon, haloumi, avo, rocket and caramelised onion jam, and really hits the spot.

What more can we say? All of these bagels are a hole in one in our eyes.
