Kindred spirits at Teneriffe’s new Kin + Co

The latest addition to the Teneriffe brunch scene, Kin + Co is already winning hearts in the food-loving suburb with one simple phrase: all day breakfast menu. The blink and you’ll miss it cafe on Macquarie Street may look like a hole-in-the-wall coffee spot, but it opens up to a chic, airy café, with outdoor and indoor seating and a crisp design that runs through every element of the venue. On the well-thought out menu you can expect to find plenty of breakfast favourites, including sourdough toast, eggs your way, smashed avocado, and fresh croissants. However, you’re likely to overlook these entirely when you see the rest of their delicious offerings! Staples like bagels and burgers have gotten a Kin + Co twist, including a mushroom bagel piled with rocket, smoked cheddar and Sriracha mayo and a breakfast burger stacked with candied bacon, Gruyere and avocado. Fit-foodies, vegans and vegetarians, meanwhile, are spoilt for choice with dishes like the spicy shakshuka, summer granola, and sautéed greens, quinoa and almonds topped with a perfectly poached egg. kin plus co 2But it wouldn’t be a Brisbane cafe without a sweet tooth option. If the French toast made with sautéed brioche, torched banana, crème patisserie and salted caramel sauce doesn’t leave you immensely satisfied, we don’t know what will. Coffee is served hot or iced, with chai, a selection of Byron Bay Organic herbal teas and hot chocolates made with real chocolate also available (with no extra charge for almond, soy or lactose free milk – very thoughtful!). You can also grab a juice made by locals HRVST and a slice of fruit loaf to go for a nourishing breakfast if you’re running late for work. For a mutual appreciation of good food, good coffee and bacon at noon, you are sure to find yourselves in kin-dred spirits with this bunch! Kin + Co can be found at 4 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe, open from 5:30am-2pm during the week and 7am-2:30pm on weekends. Words by Kat Gridley
