Whether you are after a classic lime hit or something a little more adventurous, we’ve rounded up the best places to settle in and raise your glass. Mark our words, these Brisbane spots are serving up pours that are quite literally to-tequila-for.
It’s Margarita Day, baby!
Comuna Cantina
Website | Instagram | Facebook
Salt on the rim and sunshine in hand, margaritas at Comuna are more than just cocktails, they are part of the ritual of gathering. From the first citrus-laced sip to the final salted edge, each pour captures the bright, punchy spirit that defines the Comuna experience.
Comuna’s menu moves effortlessly between timeless classics and bold, flavour-forward signatures. Expect crisp expressions built on quality agave and fresh lime, alongside tropical twists layered with ripe fruit, subtle smoke and a flicker of heat. Their range of margaritas spans from juicy and refreshing styles through to gently spiced pours and deeper, more complex flavour profiles. Each drink is carefully balanced to feel vibrant, yet refined, and designed to linger on the palate and keep conversation flowing across the table.
Premium ingredients sit at the heart of every glass. Comuna works with Altos Plata 100% blue agave tequila from Jalisco, Lacey’s Hill small-batch spirits infused with local botanicals from Dayboro, fresh 100% natural juices by Grove and seasonal garnishes by Select Fresh. Artisan methods and top-quality produce ensure every margarita is a full-flavour pour, crafted with intention and served with spirit.
Comuna’s margarita menu is designed to be shared, savoured and celebrated, where the good times gather naturally. Settle in, raise a glass and stay awhile.
El Camino Cantina
Website | Instagram | Facebook
Valentine’s Day might be in the rearview mirror, but El Camino Cantina is just getting started. Their ‘Ritas & Romance’ fiesta is still going strong, and while it kicked off this Valentine’s, let’s be honest, the real star of the show was always going to be the tequila. Honestly, is there any better excuse to pour a strong one than Margarita Day?
If you haven’t met her yet, the Red Hot Rita is the limited-edition hero of the hour. It’s a frozen watermelon masterpiece with a spicy chilli rim that’s basically the sweet but psycho of the cocktail world. It is the perfect way to usher in the change of season, offering a final kick of summer heat while keeping the transition cool and effortless.
Whether you’re hitting up South Bank, Bowen Hills, or the Sunshine Plaza, the vibe is exactly what you’d expect with neon lights, loud tunes, and those massive 24oz ‘Texan’ serves. Grab some saucy wings, round up the crew, and lean into the full-blown fiesta.

Poca Madre
Website | Instagram | Facebook
Poca Madre is basically turning into a margarita haven for the Tromba ‘Summer Break Party’ on the 22nd. They’re slinging $15 margaritas all day, ranging from the classic Casa Marg to a bunch of special Tromba pours that change as the sun goes down. With DJs playing from the afternoon right through to sunset, it is the best excuse to park yourself at a table with the crew and forget that the working week is lurking around the corner. Let’s just say that Monday morning is a problem for the future-you to deal with.
If you can’t make it to the big one on the 22nd, you can still grab a casual midweek sip at either South Bank or Hawthorne. Everything on Margarita Day is being served with a heavy hand of salt, so definitely book ahead to secure the marg and the salt!.
Birria Boy
Website | Instagram | Facebook
Woolloongabba, say hello to your new favourite pop-up, Birria Boy. This is the ultimate spot to celebrate Margarita Day if you like your tequila served with a side of messy hands and smoky, slow-cooked birria tacos. They’re keeping the drinks list focused and punchy, offering a Classic Margarita for $18 or a top-tier Tommy’s for $23 featuring Cazcabel Reposado and a heavy hit of agave. It’s a proper street-style feast that captures that bold energy the Gabba has been waiting for.
Since they’re in their pop-up era, make sure you get in while the birria is hot, and maybe avoid wearing a white shirt…. those tacos don’t play fair.
La Bodega Taqueria
Website | Instagram | Facebook
If you are chasing the gold standard this International Margarita Day, La Bodega is pretty much a non-negotiable. They recently picked up the trophy for Queensland’s Best Mexican Restaurant for 2025, which is a massive win, but for us? We love them for their frozen margaritas!
The absolute standout right now is their signature frozen coconut margarita. It comes topped with a boozy hibiscus foam that is honestly to-die-for, making it the perfect choice for a Sunday session. It is the kind of drink that looks impressive on your feed but tastes even better, balancing that tropical coconut vibe with a bit of a floral kick.
Because they have been sweeping all the People’s Choice awards lately, the place is usually buzzing, so you will definitely want to book ahead to snag a table
BAJA
Website | Instagram | Facebook
If you want to dodge the Brisbane humidity and pretend you’ve just landed in Southern California, Baja is the spot. The vibe here is strictly low-pressure, focusing on fresh ingredients and a relaxed energy that makes it far too easy to stay for hours.
The menu is built for sharing, but the real standout is the $22 Baja Margarita. It is a fresh, floral twist on the original, mixing tequila with elderflower, maraschino liqueur, and lychee. It pairs perfectly with their smoky tacos or fresh seafood, and the atmosphere is so laid-back you’ll probably forget you have problems outside of this table (exactly what we want to happen). Fair warning: once you settle into that Baja breeze, actually leaving becomes the hardest part of your day.

MARCH INTO MARGARITA
If you can’t make it out for the actual day, don’t stress. Fish Lane is basically turning into a giant tequila playground for the entire month of March. The March Into Margarita takeover means you can wander the lane and find everything from gochujang margs at Chu the Phat to margarita-granita oysters at La Lune. Midtown is even doing a full-blown margarita dinner every night if you’re feeling fancy. It’s a month-long excuse to bar-hop through the precinct without having to worry about a single-day deadline, which is great news for anyone whose social battery needs a little more time to recharge.
The big one to mark down is the Margarita Trail on Saturday, 21 March. It’s a $95 ticket that gets you six tokens to use at different spots along the lane, finishing up at an Espolòn pop-up bar near Bar Brutus. It is essentially a choose-your-own-adventure crawl that lets you move at your own pace, so you can actually spend time with the crew instead of just chasing the next round.
Fair warning: these tickets usually get snapped up pretty quick, so book here
