March into Margarita is Back and Shaking Up Fish Lane All Month Long

Salt rims at the ready, Brisbane!

March Into Margarita is officially back on Fish Lane, and she’s arrived with a whole lot of citrus, spice and everything nice. Let’s give you the rundown.

Powered by Fish Lane Arts Precinct and Espolòn Tequila, this month-long fiesta is all about celebrating the venues you love, the margaritas you crave, and the undeniable joy of hopping from bar to bar with a drink in hand and no responsibilities (except maybe ordering another round).

Bright, zesty and unapologetically fun, March Into Margarita is your invitation to sip your way through Fish Lane one excellent marg at a time.

SO… WHAT IS MARCH INTO MARGARITA?

If you’re new here, think of it as a tequila-fuelled choose-your-own-adventure.

Across the entire month of March, Fish Lane venues will be shaking, salting and serving their own margarita creations, from classic crowd-pleasers to playful twists you never see coming. Purists, flavour-chasers, spice lovers and coconut devotees are all very welcome here.

The hero? The Margarita Trail, AKA your passport to hopping venue to venue, sipping as you go and discovering just how good a Fish Lane margarita can be.

MARGARITAS, ALL MARCH-LONG

If committing to one afternoon feels like a lot (we get it), you’ll be pleased to know the margarita love doesn’t stop there. Throughout March, participating venues will be pouring special margarita menus, meaning you can drop in anytime and join the fiesta, no trail ticket required.

Here’s what’s shaking across the lane:

Bar Brutus and Julius

We’ve got it on very good authority that Bar Brutus will be serving three special margaritas throughout March… and yes, Julius will be doing their own too! The Brutus Team will also be shaking these bad boys when they pop out with an Espolòn Margarita pop-up bar on the 14th, 15th, 20th, and 21st of March. Consider this your permission to hang around for all four.

Chu the Phat

On Thursday, 5 March, Chu the Phat will bring their Phat Phiesta back to their downstairs bar, featuring margaritas (including the legendary gochujang marg that went gangbusters last year), some new margarita faces, and Asian-inspired tacos to match. Entry is free, but bookings are highly recommended, as this one’s expected to fill fast.

Hello Please

Expect playful margaritas with a Hello Please twist, meaning bold flavours, colourful energy, and plenty of reasons to stay for ‘just one more’.

La Lune

This trendy little wine bar and bottleshop is celebrating the salt-rim by dressing their fresh shucked oysters with an Espolòn margarita granita. We’ll be ordering a tableful, thanks very much.

Midtown

Midtown is going all in with an all-month-long margarita menu, featuring a smoky blue marg, a hot honey marg (yes, please), and a coconut marg. Plus, they’ll be hosting a Margarita Dinner every night in March at 6:30pm on the dot, where you can try all four with fun food pairings you’ll want another helping of.

Marlowe

New kid on the block, Marlowe, is bringing the heat to March into Margarita with their Habanero & Blackberry Margarita. What the team call a slow burn with a wild streak, this one is Espolòn tequila shaken with triple sec and fresh lime, finished with housemade habanero and blackberry syrup. Bright, juicy and dangerously fiery, you’ll want to order this one with a glass of water.

Southside

Embracing the summer heat and pouring it straight over ice, Southside’s Sunburned Señorita is the perfect balance of fresh, sweet mango with a hint of heat from bird’s eye chilli.

THE MAIN EVENT: THE MARGARITA TRAIL

Mark it down: March 21, 2–5pm. The official March Into Margarita Trail kicks off at Midtown before winding its way down Fish Lane, finishing strong at Bar Brutus, where an exclusive Espolon pop-up margarita bar will be waiting in the laneway (as it should be).

For $95, you’ll score six tokens to use at any of the six stops along the trail, giving you the freedom to sip, wander, and repeat at your own pace. It’s equal parts tasting tour, choose-your-own-crawl and a very good excuse to rally your margarita crew.

Participating venues along the trail:

  • Bar Brutus
  • Chu the Phat
  • Hello Please
  • Marlowe
  • Midtown
  • Southside
