QLD Music Trails: The Outback Returns for 2026 – A Journey Like No Other

If you have ever dreamed of trading city skylines for endless horizons, of watching sunsets melt into star-filled skies, and of discovering the heartbeat of Australia through music and community, then QLD Music Trails: The Outback is calling your name.

Returning for its fourth year from 24 April to 9 May 2026, this extraordinary experience is not just a festival. It is the ultimate road trip through Queensland’s rugged and beautiful heartland.

Spanning over 1,100 kilometres from Charleville to Mount Isa, the Outback Trail invites adventurers to take the long road west and immerse themselves in the landscapes, towns, and music that define the Australian spirit. Whether you set off with the family for a once-in-a-lifetime holiday or turn it into a romantic couples’ escape, the journey promises to be as unforgettable as the destination.

Along the trail, you will find yourself welcomed into warm country communities, sharing meals with locals, and celebrating music in settings that defy comparison. Imagine dancing under a blanket of stars in Tambo, exploring the cultural richness of Winton, or soaking in the open-air energy of Julia Creek. Each stop offers a blend of outback hospitality, natural wonder, and world-class performance.

The adventure culminates in Mount Isa with Outback Sounds, the Trail’s grand finale. This open-air festival will be headlined by Kaylee Bell, 2023 CMA Global Artist of the Year, and Australia’s most awarded country rock duo, The Wolfe Brothers. Trail Ambassadors Taylor Moss and Tori Darke will be there every step of the way, sharing their love for country music and outback culture with audiences.

For those ready to embrace the full experience, the Trail Traveller Pass is your key to the journey. It is an all-in-one ticket that unlocks the very best of the Outback Trail, but places are limited, making this a true adventure for those quick to seize the opportunity.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday 14 October 2025, and with anticipation already building, the countdown is on. This is more than music, more than a holiday. It is the road trip of a lifetime, waiting Way Out West of Brisbane.
