Spilling the (bubble) tea on Brisbane's best

Listen carefully, because we’re about to lift the lid on Brisbane’s best bubble teas.

You may think we’re obsessed, but let’s just put it this way – if we had the option to drink the elixir of eternal youth or a cup of bubble tea, you’ll find us on our deathbed clutching a large peach tea with tapioca pearls. Bubble tea may just be the best invention since electricity, so we’ve gathered our faves into one list for your consumption. Enjoy.

Majestea | Sunnybank

The sun doth shine on Sunnybank’s Majestea. They only use fresh fruit in their teas, which makes for a delightful and refreshing experience. Even better, you can top off your bubble tea with a hearty dose of cheese foam.

Initial Tea | Sunnybank

I.T’s no secret, Initial Tea is one of the best in Sunnybank. Quench your thirst with the Osmanthus flower oolong milk tea with bubbles, or grab a comforting yuchi Matcha latte which is perfect for colder days.

Chatime | Various Locations

Chatime may be the most well-known of the bunch, but for good reason – their freshly brewed teas are hard to beat. If you’re a Nutella fan, you’ve gotta try their hazelnut tea with a hearty serving of pearls, or grab a fruit tea with lychee jelly for a refreshing alternative.

B. Lucky & Sons | Fortitude Valley

This neon arcade bar is one of the coolest venues in Brissie, but it’s their range of alcoholic bubble teas that really get us excited. Think Taro Bang with Frangelico, Malibu and taro with blueberry popping pearls, or Berry Pop with Tanqueray gin, Chambord Black raspberry liqueur, watermelon and blueberry pearls.

The 21st | South Brisbane

A surprisingly better pair than every couple from The Bachelor (actually, it’s not that surprising), The 21st offers decadent lobster rolls alongside an incredible range of bubble teas. We’re all over their brown sugar bubble teas, but our personal fave – for aesthetics and taste – would have to be their plant teas, topped with salted milk foam, crushed Oreos and a mint leaf.

HEERETEA | Sunnybank

One of Sunnybank’s most popular tea joints, HEERETEA serves flavoursome tea with a generous serving of fresh fruit. Looking for something a little extra? Their roasted brulee milk tea is an awesome creation with cheese foam, pearls and a toasted brulee top.

Sakuraya | Sunnybank

Contrary to what your ex may have told you, bigger is better – and Sakuraya knows that all too well. Their bowl-like cups are an Instagram goldmine, and the flavour does not disappoint. Using only the freshest ingredients, we can’t recommend their taro tea enough.

Forget champers, we’re about a different kind of bubbly.
