Dear media outlets,
We’re writing to inform you that your 6pm ‘news’ segments have gone horribly off the rails. Instead of pulled pork, we get politics. When we want fries, we see finance. Let’s not even discuss the horror of swapping burgers for burglaries – though we see the mix-up there.
Luckily for the people, they have The G&G. Gather ‘round, foodies! If you’re craving a weekly dose of delicious eats – from events to all-new spots – look no further. This week, we’ve heard whispers of three new German beer halls, a St Patrick’s Day party to send your friends green with envy, and plenty more…
EATING OUT
We know where we’re flying this winter. As the city counts down to the launch of Brisbane’s W Hotel, we’re shaking our tail feathers for its signature restaurant. Flocking to BrisVegas from Byron Bay, Three Blue Ducks sounds like a quacker of a time – think Moreton Bay Bugs, spanner crab with green mango, and plenty more. This one’s off the record. Valley-goers, you might’ve spotted things brewing over at the old Foundry Records. Be sure to tune in come March, when it’s reborn as Daily Planet Café, a pop-culture zone dedicated to morning coffees, live music gigs, and quick-off-the-rank fare. Lunar New Year certainly launched with a bang, with four new Chinese restaurants on the cards for 2018! Ready your chopsticks for feasts at South Bank’s Tai Tai, Neil Perry’s Spice Temple, Kangaroo Point’s Stanley, and a Cantonese project in the Valley by the team behind Rick Shores. Prost! Pull on those lederhosen and prep your stein-carrying arm – Rockpool Dining Group have announced the arrival of three new German beer halls this year. You’ll spot the 900-seater, 48-tap Munich Brewhaus taking shape at South Bank in late April, closely followed by the RNA Showgrounds’ Bavarian Beerhaus, and The Bavarian Toowoomba at the new and improved Grand Central. Brisbane, the steaks have officially been raised. The team behind The Gresham and Heya Bar have announced the debut of a brand new meating place (nudge, nudge) – Walter’s Steakhouse. Expect to beef up your dinner plans come March. Ales well that ends well! The renos at Brewski are expected to wrap up in July, launching a new and improved back deck for those brew-heavy Sunday seshes. In the meantime, drop by for a huge line up of beerverages this Brewsvegas. Time to take those knock-offs to new heights. Folks in Maroochydore can expect to hit the roof come December, with aptly-named The Rooftop Bar setting the scene for nights to remember.EVENTS & HAPPENINGS
We’re about to shamrock your world! Get ready to paint the town green this St Patrick’s Day with PaddyFest, the city’s biggest event! The bigger news, though? You can bring a friend for free, courtesy of the G&G – check it out! Guilty of a few cheeky tikis of a Friday? Join the club. No, seriously. On Saturday 10 March, the Valley’s Apo is set to host Brisbane’s ultimate tiki experience! Check out more deets for The CHIKI TIKI Rum Festival here. Got something delicious to share?
