Brisbane's Best Poke Bowls 2019
It’s not poke it’s poh-keh (thank you Hermione Granger).

This Hawaiian superfood is irresistible for health-goers, and it’s even swaying the occasional salad fiend (when too many burgers make you feel more grease than man). In fact, poké is going so far as to give sushi a run for its money in its glorious deconstructed form.

With an infinite number of variations that all manage to stay uber Instagramable, it’s managed to get a bit of a cult following on our shores – and we know just where to get the very best in Brisbane (and the Gold Coast)!

Malolo | CBD

Wake me up before you Malolo. Nestled in the CBD, the freshest poké bowl joint in Brisbane specialises in the very thing, with bits and pieces like coffee and smashed avo that are perfect for a pre-poké pep up. Locally-sourced produce and line-caught seafood makes for a unique experience, especially if you opt for the Mr T bowl with Queensland tiger prawns, beets, coriander and edamame. We pity the fool that doesn’t.

Cheeky Poké Bar at The Garden Pantry | West End

Nothin’ like a cheeky bowl in the arvo. Cheeky Poké Bar is slinging flavour combos including the likes of marinated mushrooms with black rice, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, radish, spinach, jalapeños, miso tahini, fried shallots, avo, nori, sesame and togarashi, or build-your-own creations to write Facebook about. Treat yourself to a Butterbing cookie sanga for dessert, and butter boom, you’ve just had an excellent experience.

Hello Mr. Frankie | Fortitude Valley

Hello handsome! Not only does Hello Mr. Frankie serve tantalising bowls loaded with everything from kingfish to tofu, seriously good specials run from Monday to Saturday. Every day features a different bowl ranging from $10 to $13, and if you poké, you know that price is no joke on the old wallet. What a nice man.

Suki | South Bank & Bulimba

If loving poké is a crime, sue me. Suki’s entire menu centres on poké bowls and sushi burritos, with the option to build-your-own choosing from a plethora of hot and cold ingredients. Can’t decide? Get the 3 amigos! Snapper, salmon, tuna, cabbage, cucumber, ponzu, surimi crab, and fried shallot. You’ll like it a lot.

Miss Bliss | West End

Miss Bliss is the heart of health in Brisbane, so of course their menu snapped up this dish at first sight! For a twist on the traditional poké bowl, you can expect crispy skin salmon, shirataki noodles, avocado, pickled ginger, kale, edamame salad, sesame rolled egg, roasted sesame dressing and togarashi salt. Bliss in a bowl!

The Collective | Palm Beach

You’re probably more likely to be tempted by the pizzas, burgers and Asian fare on The Collective’s varied menu, but if not, they offer up a vibrant bowl of tuna poké with shallots, soy, sesame, avocado and garlic pastry. Pizza might just lose this round.
