Where to brunch in Brisbane City this weekend

Our city hums with activity Mondays to Fridays, but if you have ever been in the CBD on a Saturday or Sunday, that hum becomes a whisper. More like an echo actually. But if you know where to go, there are still some dedicated hospos that continue to supply their city community with basic human essentials: coffee and brunch
INTER/SECTION

We love a good hub of foodie activity, and Inter/Section is just that. Located in the heart of the CBD, Inter/Section gives us a big NYC feel with its old school building, large windows and exposed brick walls. Plus, you’re sure to find more than you thought you had an appetite for. Between the modern dishes of Fika, the heavenly pastries and sweets at Whisk, and the must-have coffee at Coffee Anthology, you’ll leave feeling more than satiated. Inter/Section is open every day from 7:30am and trading until 2pm on weekends. Perfect for brunch.

MISS DEMEANOUR

If you’re more of a late starter and not really the bacon and eggs type, a laneway bar might seem like an offbeat choice, but we think it might be just up your alley. Miss Demeanour is a trendy underground bar just off Edward street. The staff is welcoming, the food is moreish, and the atmosphere is intimate and inviting. We can’t guarantee that brunch won’t become lunch.

Miss D’s is open from 11am on Saturdays.

STANTON

For more of a classic breakfast dining experience, check out Stanton in Queen’s Plaza. You’ll enjoy the likes of eggs benedict or buttermilk pancakes, or indulge in a variety of healthier options that suit most dietary requirements, plus a kickstart to the day – a good old Bloody Mary from 10am if required. The Stanton is open from 8am on weekends, and trades until late afternoon. Winning!

MARCHETTI

Marchetti, located in Tattersalls Arcade, is a firm favourite of the Mediterranean-loving foodie. Open from 9am on weekends, your brunch will consist of all of the European classics including ciabatta toast, caprese salad, and even a variety of panini to suit your mood. [We can’t go past their famous Nutella scroll though *insert love-heart eyes*]

THE GARDEN ROOM

More inclined to spend the weekend at the park?? Check out The Garden Room at Roma Street Parklands. Serving brekky from 7am, The Garden Room offers a variety of yummy meals including slow cooked savoury mince or toasted Belgian waffles for the sweet lovers. Points for sweet corn and zucchini fritters – always a favourite.

RIVERBAR

Great news: Riverbar is set to make its return following the damage from recent floods. We can’t help but be extremely excited that our riverfront brunch views will be reinstated. Watch this space.
