Warm yourself up with Apres Ski on King St

Vive la Winter, indeed!

We Brisbanites really take any chance we get to rug up for the Sunshine State’s version of a winter’s chill.  But now it looks as if those puffer jackets and Ugg boots – don’t act like you don’t have them – are going to come in handy as the urban jungle of Bowen Hills’ hotspot King St is transforming its scorching metropolitan landscape into a winter wonderland – with an appropriate tropical twist, of course.

You’ll want to brave the cold as your favourite King St destinations serve up their spin on winter warmers and frosty feasts, making the hottest occasion out of even the coldest of nights.  And nothing screams winter quite like a steaming hot bowl of ragout, and Kuhl-Cher is adding a unique touch to the traditional dish with their lamb ragout stirred through pillows of gnocchi and served with fresh chilli, torn basil and pecorino shavings.

If you’re feeling cheesy then tucking into the toasted croque monsieur at the King Street Bakery and snacking on Xin Chao’s jalapeno cheese bites will make you feel like you’re atop the French Alps – just with a little extra heat for good measure.

Of course, such decadence needs a little accompaniment, and some mulled wine – a warm winter’s favourite – from Il Verde and a classic from S’more – that’s deep-fried balls of dark chocolate and gooey marshmallow served between two crackers for the uninitiated – from Winghaus will make you feel as if you’re sitting toasty by a lush resort fire.

Across June and July King St will be feeling its freeze, so if you’ve ever wanted to experience that alps ambience in your own backyard, say yay to the Après! Head to the official King St page for more information on all the winter wonder on offer.
