Since hitting South Brisbane in 2013, Wandering Cooks has established a reputation for offering up fabulous food and drinks (with a particular focus on local and sustainable goods) as well as providing Brisbane’s aspiring small business-owners and foodies with a place for experimentation, education, and entertainment.
Now, in the lead-up to their seventh birthday, Wandering Cooks’ latest iteration is in full swing, serving up great booze and bites every Wednesday-Saturday from 4 pm, in addition to their Saturday morning Urban Produce Market.
Chow down on a weekly menu of snacks and plates taking broad culinary cues, with the likes of deep-fried cauliflower with blue cheese dressing, duck prosciutto with a grapefruit, shiso and amaranth salad, and fragrant Lankan veggie curries featuring of late.
The bar is serving up rotating tap beers, a funky Aussie wine program and creative cocktails like the Pantry Martini, which features whatever seasonal delights the team can get their hands on, or a Negroni with notes of native Australian botanicals.
On Saturday mornings the Urban Produce Market kicks off at 7 am, bringing a collection of the region’s best fruit and veg, artisan breads and pastries, and house-made pickles and preserves to the expansive outdoor space.
Browse goods from makers and producers including include Falls Farm and Neighbourhood Farm, and grab coffee, breaky from the Wandering Cooks kitchen and bakery treats from Ten Acres for a market breakfast. The fresh produce is also on offer at Wandering Cook’s Friday farm gate, so you can stock up for the weekend with a bev in hand!
