Try Lunar New Year flavours for the rest of the month at these CBD favourites

Lions and noodles and beef, oh my!

While the December 31 New Year celebrations only offer one night of fun with friends and family, it’s tradition for Lunar New Year festivities to continue for weeks, meaning you have the rest of the month to enjoy some delicious specials AND dazzling live entertainment at Treasury Brisbane

Luke Nguyen’s Fat Noodle is offering an opulent Vietnamese steamboat (like a hot pot) for two for $69, with options including shaved beef, octopus and crisp Asian veggies to cook the way you like in the flavoursome soup! Udon noodles and an array of dipping sauces are also part of this New Year party, which will also see you leave with a cute plush ox in celebration of this year’s Chinese zodiac animal.

Downstairs in the delicious Mei Wei Dumplings, their Cantonese-style Lunar New Year special will see you feast on a celebratory spread of wok-fried beef in black bean sauce with steamed rice, sweet red bean soup and a sticky peanut rice ball (plus your choice of a beer, wine or soft drink) for just $21!

With both available for the rest of February, the Mei Wei Dumplings and Fat Noodle Lunar New Year specials are perfect for a mid-week lunch, an affordable celebration to ring in the Year of the Ox or a delicious dinner with family or friends (see Fat Noodle opening hours here and Mei Wei’s here).

For an authentic experience to see out the Lunar New Year period (and snap a fab Insta…), guests will be thrilled by lion dancers at 7:30 pm on Friday, February 26 to mark the official end of Treasury’s LNY celebrations! A vibrant red wishing tree is also blooming at the Queen Street entrance of Treasury Brisbane, inviting guests to place their wish for prosperity, happiness and longevity among its branches.
