If you’re a beer lover and lucky enough find yourself on the Gold Coast, you’re in for a treat – the beautiful beachside city is home to some of the sunshine state’s best breweries, where you can sip on a cold one after a long, hard day in the sun, surf ‘n’ sand. 

So you can spend more of your time tanning, we’ve rounded up our list of the best breweries the Goldie has to offer.

Burleigh Brewing Co. | Burleigh Heads 

This list wouldn’t be complete without a shoutout to Burleigh Brewing Co., an iconic craft beer destination. After over a decade in the business, it’s safe to say these guys know what they’re doing, and after tasting one of their award-winning brews you’ll know why. The bustling Burleigh spot has excellent vibes, and is the perfect place to spend an afternoon trying out one of the 24 beers on tap, whilst enjoying the live music and range of food trucks. 

Balter | Currumbin Waters 

If you’re not familiar with the Balter brand, it’s a brewing company founded by a crew of Aussie surfing legends, including Mick Fanning. In true Gold Coast style, they have opened up Balter, the ultimate spot to enjoy a beachside beverage. Nestled in the backstreets of Currumbin, it offers chilled vibes and a range of tasty brews. You’ll find a 12 tap tasting room, cosy beer garden, live music, and a selection of food trucks. Be sure to taste their famous Balter XPA, and you’ll understand why this brew has won fifteen international beer awards. 

Lost Palms Brewing Co | Miami 

Pastel-coloured Lost Palms is a definite highlight of the Gold Coast beer scene. Their eye-catching decor is impossible to miss, and the perfect place to soak in the casual, relaxed vibes of Miami. The brews match the vibes perfectly, serving up a collection of craft beers which can be tasted in their very own taproom. Expect the usual suspects such as pale ales and lagers, along with unique concoctions such as the hibiscus and guava sour, and the mango and passionfruit American wheat ale. Oh, and don’t leave without snapping a photo for the ‘gram – it would be rude not to! 

Black Hops Brewing | Burleigh Heads 

Any beer fanatic’s trip to the Gold Coast wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the beloved  Black Hops. What started as the passion project of three Brissy boys has become a star of the craft beer scene, with two Gold Coast locations, including Burleigh and Biggera Waters. Their original Burleigh joint is a local favourite, serving up a selection of award-winning beers. With over 14 beers on offer in the taproom, there’s sure to be something that tickles your fancy – don’t miss their iconic classics like the Gold Coast Pale Ale, along with more crazy creations such as the eggnog stout.

Fortitude Brewing Co. | Tamborine Mountain 

Break away from the beach and get a slice of tranquility in the lush hinterland of Mt Tamborine, where a stop at Fortitude Brewing Co. is essential. The local and independent Australian brewing company boats a selection of over fifteen boutique beers, including the Fortitude Brewing Co. beers brewed on site. Make a day of your visit to the mountain and park up with a tasting paddle for two and a snack, whether it be one of their legendary wood-fired pizzas, or a cheese platter from the award winning Witches Chase Cheese Company. 

Aardvark & Arrow Brewery | Varsity Lakes 

Located in Varsity Lakes, microbrewery Aardvark & Arrow is a gem of the Gold Coast beer scene, providing visitors with a unique and intimate experience. Here, you can find a selection of small brews that are chemical and preservative free – healthy, right? The beers are brewed in small matches, ensuring attention to detail and top-notch quality that will have you coming back for more.
