The Gardens Are Alight For An After-Dark Adventure Like No Other

Nature and technology collide for the Brisbane Festival, offering a symphony of light, colour, and sound…

Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens are shedding daylight for a technicolor twilight extravaganza as Lightscape takes over from August 31 to October 8. Wander through an enchanting 2km trail, where neon roots emerge from the earth, flowers bloom larger-than-life, and the canopies dazzle with colour.

Presented by Brisbane Festival and Sony Music Entertainment, Lightscape is set to illuminate the gardens like never before. International artists like Ithaca Studio, Jigantics, and Pitaya have spun their creative magic into a dazzling display, while local talents will unveil a First Nations-led projection.

Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch is thrilled by the fusion of nature and art, calling Lightscape a beacon on Queensland’s cultural calendar. “Our Botanic Gardens will transform into an accessible arts wonderland, creating a luminous tapestry of stories and experiences,” says Enoch.

Come nightfall, the Gardens will burst into life where you can take your time along the 90-minute self-guided trail, with session times from 5.45pm until late. And why not make a night of it? Savour dinner and drinks at one of the on-site outlets before embarking on a sensory spectacle that’ll leave you glowing.
