The Best of What to Eat & Drink in Bulimba

Bars, bistros and freshly roasted beans: the vibrant riverside suburb of Bulimba has it all.

Whether your stomach’s grumbling for fresh seafood, creamy pasta or a classic sushi roll, there’s a little something for everyone in this bustling neighbourhood.

IL MOLO ITALIAN KITCHEN & BAR

Your Italian fix is sorted, with this riverside hottie (fittingly located right at the CityCat stop…). Their lunch and dinner menu is filled with Italian classics like beef carpaccio, Mooloolaba prawn linguine, chicken cotoletta and let’s not get started on their drool-worthy tiramisu! It would be a sin not to mix in a few Aperol spritzes, too…

OXFORD 152

If you haven’t been to the Oxford 152, it’s definitely time to go check it out! They have an epic lineup of cocktails, beers, and wines with a food menu just as delectable, that includes burrata and bug rolls as well as all the classic pub staples that you know and love. If you’re looking for some fun, pop down on Friday or Saturday night as the pub comes alive with a DJ and dance floor. But if that’s not your speed, we recommend spending a relaxing Sunday afternoon in the Gin Garden listening to live music and sipping on a marg (or three).

DARVELLA PATISSERIE

A little slice of Swiss-style indulgence, Darvella bakes everything from croissants to fresh bread and their signature baby cakes, in-house every day. Whether you stop by for a quick mid-week lunch, a weekend treat, or a special occasion sweet, the abundant options and fresh interior should have your mouth watering for quality baked goods and locally roasted coffee from Monocle, faster than you can say “croissant crumbs”!

OLD MR RABBIT

Overlook the bustling Oxford St, whilst sipping on some seriously insane craft beers, local wines or cocktails at Old Mr Rabbit. Their menu is filled with an array of tasty bites designed to be shared, from smoked kransky bites to molten honey-drizzled smoked camembert. Their cocktail list is also funky with cocktails boasting some of the most outrageous names from The Bulimba vape shop, Not your nanna’s pie, and the Bare-knuckle boxer. Pop on up and see what all the fuss is about.

SUSHI MURA

Four words: order the Dragon Roll. This spot at the top of Oxford Street serves up fresh and flavoursome sushi, donburi (including the classic eel) and classic Japanese snacks like piping-hot takoyaki, gyoza, and agedashi tofu. For those looking for more substantial meals, there’s a range of curries, yakisoba, udon, and bento boxes to get stuck into. It might look unassuming, but trust us, it’s sushi-riously good.

REVEL BREWING CO

Revel is bringing brewing back to Bulimba. Freshen up with their award-winning beer or sling down a locally crafted cider all while digging into one of their signature wood-fired pizzas with classic and crowd-pleasing toppings. Whether at one of the family-style picnic tables in a breezy beer garden or at a bar table in the industrial space inside, this modern brewery is just the spot to relax with your gang!

SUGO IT

Sugo IT is one of the longest-standing restaurants on Oxford St, and that’s for a reason – it’s so bloody good. A few standouts are their house-made potato parmesan gnocchi with melt-in-your mouth slow-cooked smoked pork with sugo or their ravello pizza with smoked ham, mozzarella, wilted spinach, hazelnuts & truffle honey. But in reality, everything on their menu is so good you’re just going to have to go check it out for yourself.

LUCKIES KITCHEN

Looking for the perfect place for date night or a friend’s catch-up look no further than Luckies Kitchen. This relaxed Cantonese dining takes flavour inspiration from around the world, offering dishes you have never tried anywhere else. You have to try their take on burrata with sticky chilli, shallots and Chinese donut or even their katsu eggplant with smoked teriyaki and fried garlic. Even their cocktail list makes a visit worthy, with boozy bubble teas and alcoholic slushies.

MELROSE RESTAURANT

Tucked away on the rooftops of the bustling Oxford Street is Melrose. This contemporary pan-Asian dining experience transports its guests to South East Asia, where you will indulge in authentic and vibrant flavours, from hiramasa kingfish crudo to crispy eggplant baos. Their drinks menu has all your favourite classic cocktails and beers whilst boasting a seriously impressive wine selection.
