The Sunshine Coast breakfast bucket list

Don’t think we forgot about you, our sunshine friends.

If you thought Brisbane had the best breakfast spots in Queensland, you have a whole other shire coming your way—which means plenty more cafés to add to your bucket list!

From Sunshine Beach to Sunrise Beach (yes, both of those actually exist), let us take you through all the awesome stacks, long blacks and bacon racks that the Sunshine Coast has to offer.

DECISIONS CAFÉ | BIRTINYA

With a breakfast menu divided into superfood and superjunk sections, deciding what to eat is a breeze. When we feel healthy, we opt for the superfood bowl with cured salmon, fermented quinoa, spinach, avo, poached eggs, salsa verde and sunchoke crisps. On a cheat day, we’re all about that chorizo burger–loaded high with a chorizo patty, cheese, sour cream, and two types of zingy salsa on a toasted milk bun.

CAFÉ LE MONDE | NOOSA

Having fuelled surfers and early-risers since 1986, it’s no wonder that Café Le Monde is one of the most respected cafes in Noosa. Find out the secret behind their success by diving into their Noosa spanner crab omelette with chilli, coriander, coconut and lime dressing, and sourdough.

VANILLA FOOD | NOOSA JUNCTION

Want something healthy and delicious? VanillaFood is the place for you. Located in Noosa Junction, this café plates up super wholesome meals. Their seasonal menu is sure not to disappoint, particularly their hot-smoked trout served with dill yoghurt, watercress, smashed peas and boiled eggs served on house-made stone age bread.

WHITE PICKET FENCE CAFÉ | CALOUNDRA

1950s suburbia? Eh. But White Picket Fence Café? Hooray! Get your weekly fix of eggs Benny at this Instagram-worthy pink-brick café… theirs is loaded up with twice-cooked char siu duck leg, poached eggs, potato pave, spinach, lychee, and hollandaise.

FOMO | SUNSHINE BEACH

Squash any fears of missing out with just one trip to this seaside bar-turned-café in the mornings! Offering brunch favs daily from 6 am to 2 pm, we are most excited to get our hands on their juicy breaky burger loaded with pork, cheddar, fried egg, jalapeño aioli, and chutney on an English muffin.

THE BIRDS & THE BEANS | BUDERIM

Open from 6 am to 11:30 am Monday-Saturday, enjoy watching the sunrise at this gorgeous hole-in-the-wall café plating up mouth-watering pastries and seasonal meals that go perfectly with its superstar coffee, brewed in-house using Kai Coffee beans.

THE CAF | COOLUM

If you’re anything like us, sometimes you get a hankering for smashed avo that just won’t quit. Luckily, we can head up to glorious Coolum and get our fix… This summer-ready plate is loaded up with slow roasted vine tomatoes, lemon hummus, basil oil, and lime on sourdough. Oh, did we mention they have an all-day brunch menu?

THE SHAK ORGANIC CAFÉ  | BUDERIM

Looking for some food for thought? The Shak is renowned for using ethically and locally sourced ingredients to create delicious dishes like The Hunter, with bacon, duck and maple chipolatas, field mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, braised white beans, poached eggs, and ciabatta.

CHALET & CO. | SUNRISE BEACH

Meet under the chalet right across from Sunrise Beach, and get cosy with their Musha’verde complete with sauteed garlic mushrooms, fried egg, salsa verde, cured yolk, pistachio crumb, and seeded sourdough.

LA FINCA | MOOLOOLABA

We think that La Finca is a must-do on every Mooloolaba visitor’s list, thanks to its Colombian-inspired menu that will have everyone’s taste buds do the tango.

COCK AND HEN | TWIN WATERS

This is no cock and bull story–Cock and Hen in Twin Waters really does it all, including a delicious green pea pancake topped with a poached egg, avocado, greens, whipped feta and tomato relish.

ONE BLOCK BACK | MOFFAT BEACH

Only a short walk away from Moffat Beach, this rustic café is the perfect spot for an early morning post-surf feed. If anyone asks, we’ll be chowing down on the Mexican breaky wrap with roasted peppers, black beans, avo cheese, hash brown, omelette, chipotle mayo and BBQ sauce.
