Suburban Foodies: Toowong & Auchenflower

Toowong & Auchenflower Restaurants
Toowongs don’t make a right – that is, unless you’re talking about West Brisbane.

Nestled in the inner-burbs are some of the best eateries you’ll find this side of South-East Queensland, and we’ve done our fair share of exploration to find the best of the best. We actually give a fork if you’re hungry, so get ready to feast.

Josie North | Toowong

With minimalist décor and a focus on flavour, Josie North is the answer to brekkie cravings. Serving specialty brews on the reg and tasty pastries to match, you can’t go wrong with an early morning pop-in, and we strongly suggest the Swiss brown mushrooms on toast.

Deer Duck Bistro | Auchenflower

Duck, duck, duck, deer. Prepare your tastebuds for an adventure, complete with a unique atmosphere, friendly staff and decadent eats. There’s no place better to enjoy a degustation fit for royalty, and the lavish and enchanting Deer Room is a function space perfect for any occasion.

Corner Store Café | Toowong

On the corner of Sylvan Rd and Quinn St, you’ll find the much-loved Toowong fave, Corner Store Café. You’ll be hooked once you’ve mulled over the menu of acai and mango bowls, pumpkin and turmeric muesli, chorizo and black bean rancheros, and Belgian waffles – just don’t forget to grab a smoothie while you’re at it.

Eiffel Restaurant | Auchenflower

It’s not France, but Eiffel Restaurant is the next best thing. Serving authentic French cuisine (yes, including snails), this little gem is a must-try, with dishes like cheese soufflé, slow-cooked lamb, and duck confit pie. While they accept BYO, we highly recommend trying their excellent range of wine.

A Night in India | Toowong

You don’t know Brisbane’s Indian dining scene until you’ve had A Night in India. Not just a Toowong fave, this restaurant is renowned throughout the city – but with a focus on healthy and fresh curries, it’s not hard to see why.

Pitch and Fork | Toowong

We won’t have to pitch this café very hard, as we feel that the perfectly brewed coffee and delectable food speaks for itself. Overlooking Toowong Park, Pitch and Fork is a wonderful location for post-workout eats, lunch with your mates or a cup of coffee while watching the kids run free.

My Thai | Auchenflower

Thai-m to take yourself to My Thai, Auchenflower’s bustling eatery. With an elegant interior, friendly staff and mouth-watering dishes, feast on all your classic Thai faves with your friends and family. We highly recommend the mussaman beef curry!

The Boatshed | Toowong

Sitting pretty on the river, Toowong’s pride and joy is a must-try for any west-side visitor or local. The Boatshed is Regatta Hotel’s resident restaurant, and with a stylish interior and large glass windows, it looks almost as good as the menu of dry aged steaks.

Genkotsu Ramen | Toowong

Venture past Clements Arcade and you might miss a ramen shop to rival those of Japan. Tucked up in the back, Genkotsu Ramen is sure to satisfy the most hardcore ramen fans, with flavoursome broth, succulent meats and perfect portion sizes.

Jako Japanese & Korean | Auchenflower

Jako is a KO when it comes to traditional Japanese and Korean feasts, offering everything from chicken bibimbap and seafood pancakes to Japanese curries and fried chicken with great prices to match.

Auchenflower and Toowong are bloomin’ awesome.
