Best of Hawthorne

The riverside suburb with seriously good food.

It may be one of Brisbane’s smaller suburbs, but tucked away in this riverside pocket of Brisbane is a sprawling AFL park, TWO cinemas, and a vast variety of restaurants, cafes and more!

Hawthorne Garage

If you’re all about home-cooked meals, Hawthorne Garage is a must-visit grocery destination. Their range of fresh fruit and veggies, top-quality meat, and premium grocery ingredients make for a serious dinner party set-up. If you’re no culinary whiz, Hawthorne Garage’s deli also turns out a range of delish daily specials, as well as take-home family dinners, so you only need to do the dishes! With a coffee shop attached, serving DNA Espresso and pastries, Hawthorne Garage is a one-stop suburban shop.

Sister Cafe

Miss Jones’ sister café is doing the family proud, with stunning breakfast and lunch offerings winning over every foodie heart that passes through Hawthorne. Wake up with Single O coffee and keep the good morning going strong, thanks to breakfast gnocchi with mushroom ragu, bacon crumb, pecorino and a poached egg, or kickass karaage chicken rolls for lunch.

Microlot Coffee House

This minimal spot overlooking the AFL park is a suburban favourite, serving up great coffee, sweets, and a limited but quality menu. Taking their coffee seriously, choose from a specially devised blend, a rotating single origin, and a rotating filter option.

Ardo’s Wine Bar

Ardo’s is a wine bar nestled off the main dining and cinema precinct of Hawthorne Rd. They offer a diverse selection of Australian and International wines to sample and enjoy alongside a variety of bar bites and snacks.

Marinara Ristorante and Cafe

With over 30 years’ experience, true Italian hospitality and truly transportive authentic ambience, Marinara will make you feel as though you just took a trip to Italy. Sourcing fresh local produce, Marinara serves up some of the most incredible homemade pizza and pasta dishes the Southside has to offer. Mix this with handpicked wines from wineries around Italy and an old-school dessert tray to peruse and your night at Marinara is sure to be simply spettacolare!

Botanica Real Foods

Craving a health kick? Botanica is bursting with Brisbane’s freshest produce. Whether you’re tucking into one of their hearty refreshing salads or a selection of their sweet treats, Botanica provides its customers with the tastiest flavours in clean eating. Whether you need lunch on-the-go options or to cater your next event, the healthiest options for any mealtime can be found at Botanica.

Cartel del Taco

Visit the 1980s-inspired Mexican street taqueria and bar to be transported to the streets of Mexico City. Cartel del Taco specialises in authentic Mexican street food, tacos, share plates, and vegetarian options. The cocktails menu is equally as impressive with a variety of mouth-watering mezcal and tequila-infused cocktails.

Studio Pilates

Studio Pilates Hawthorne offers the ultimate toning Pilates classes, incorporating reformer Pilates with highly skilled instructors to sculpt and shape your body. Whether you consider yourself a Pilates pro, or you’re just looking to try something new, Studio Pilates will help you on your way to achieving your fitness goals.

Hermosa Flowers Hawthorne

Ever stuck on what to get someone for a present? Look no further than the stunning bouquets from Hermosa Flowers. Adorning pastel colours, these Insta-grammable bouquets are set to put a smile on anyone’s face. You must get in quick though, as they often sell out early on weekends.

Cineplex Hawthorne Deluxe

Calling all movie buffs! Enjoy an elevated movie experience at Hawthorne Deluxe. Instead of your traditional popcorn and slushies (which you can still get), relax and treat yourself to some cheeky beveraginos, oven-baked pizzas, burgers, fried snacks, ice cream sundaes and so much more delivered to you throughout the entirety of the film. A three-course dinner and a movie without ever leaving your seat!

Nodo

Attention gluten-free readers! I’m sure you’ve heard of the famous gluten-free Nodo donuts, but did you know they have their own little brunch spot? Not only can you grab your gluten-free treat and a coffee, but those with bigger appetites can sit and chow down on a cafe menu made up of smashed avo, harvest bowls, strawberry and cream waffles.

Hardcastle Park

Located on a lovely stretch of the Brisbane River, Hardcastle Park is the perfect spot to spend the afternoon. Located right next to the Hawthorne ferry terminal this park will have kids imagining like they are the captain of their own boat, with the nautical-themed playground. Or alternatively, grab a picnic and watch as the sun sets over the stunning woolsheds of Teneriffe.

BRB, we’re jumping on the ferry and heading to Hawthorne!
