Burleigh Heads: Best Restaurants Bars & Cafes

Suburban foodies: Burleigh Heads

Burleigh Heads Restaurants
Life’s a real beach sometimes.

Whether you’re stopping by or there for the long haul, Burleigh is so much more than just a pit stop between Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta…

We trawled the magnificent beachside suburb in search of the best flavours, cosiest bars, and tastiest breaky, lunch, and dinner spots. It was hard, but someone had to do it.

RICK SHORES

The view. The Moreton Bay bug roll. Does it get anymore iconic than that? This beachfront stunner is one of the biggest names in GC dining, and the proof is in the perfectly executed pan Asian plates.

MAMAN

Maman (French for mum) was founded by two wholesome mothers who happen to share a passion for feeding their flavourful Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern bites to the masses. Every dish starts with the freshest local produce and ends with a generous dose of love–from the pita crisps and taramasalata to the perfectly layered lamb moussaka with Greek salad.

PADDOCK BAKERY

You’ve probably heard of this insanely popular haunt and, if you’re anything like us, you’ve spent hours lusting over their Instagram. The wood-fire bakery and cafe is open seven days, with a menu spanning from breaky to lunch alongside an array of baked goodies. You’ll need something to wash down the flaky treats, and thankfully Paddock has its own milk bar serving up milkshakes in mind-blowing flavours like Nutella cookie, Coco Pops, and PB and J.

RESTAURANT LABART

A meal at Restaurant Labart is not just a meal–it’s a celebration of Australia’s top flavours, ingredients, and techniques. Their finessed set menu changes frequently, but is always full to the brim with local proteins and highly seasonal produce.

ROSELLA’S

If it’s not true blue, hooroo. Rosella’s is the most Australian thing to hit Burleigh since Vegemite, and you best believe they have plenty of that. Their ever-changing menu is full of classy takes on Aussie favourites, like Balmain bug and king prawn cocktails, gourmet jaffles, and Fantale-inspired cocktails. You beauty.

JIMMY WAH’S

Adding a modern twist to Vietnamese classics (including bao buns and banh mi to die for), Jimmy Wah’s is a Burleigh staple. Enjoy cocktails and fragrant share plates, and see for yourself why we won’t shut up about this place!

THE TROPIC AT BURLEIGH PAVILION

Live your beachiest life at Burleigh Pavilion with a beer in hand and a few wood fired pizzas to go around, or move northward to The Tropic, the Pavilion’s full-service restaurant. Start with small plates of fresh seafood, cured meats and cheeses, before taking your pick of mains like clams spaghetti, Angus sirloin with roasted mushrooms, and whole rainbow trout with grilled lime and pumpkin hummus.

CANTEEN CAFÉ

Burleigh’s worst-kept secret, Canteen Café is slinging modern, fresh food with traditional Middle Eastern flavours. Feast on eggs Benny but not as you know it with za’atar Turkish bread and lamb kofta, or satisfy your sweet tooth with caramelised banana, pistachio, dark chocolate ganache, and candied orange zest on sourdough.

BURLEIGH BREWING CO.

Food trucks, bangin’ tunes and a 24-tap line-up of some of the best damn brews in Burleigh–who wouldn’t want to spend a casual Sunday afternoon at Burleigh Brewing Co? Including regular favourites like 28 California Pale Ale, Figjam IPA and the Burleigh Blonde, as well as additional one-offs from their pilot plant, it’s no wonder this place is so popular.

JUSTIN LANE

What started as a humble pizzeria quickly became a popping, multi-level restaurant and bar that has reached legend status in the eyes of Goldie locals. Justin Lane serves up a playful menu of pizzas, pastas, and share plates–our drool-worthy pick being the pork belly, pear, gorgonzola, garlic, and fior di latte ‘za.

Looks like we’ll be leaving our next Burleigh vacay a couple of KGs heavier than we arrived…
