We’re so lucky to have state-of-the-art performing arts facilities right in the heart of our city. But it’s often the case that after successful runs in other southern cities, big ticket productions won’t make the trek up to our sunshine state and yes, we’re a little mad about it!
However, the Brisbane theatre scene is currently booming and QPAC and Queensland Theatre are promising to raise the curtain on some pretty sensational musicals and stage productions in 2024 (and beyond), and we could not be more ecstatic!
DISNEY’S BEAUTY & THE BEAST | 15 FEBRUARY – 9 JUNE | QPAC
QPAC is proudly inviting us to ‘be their guest’ and witness Disney’s enchanting new production of Beauty & the Beast and we are more than happy to accept the invitation! Boasting all the spectacle and grandeur audiences know and love from the movie and the original production, this reimagined version takes things a step further with cutting edge technology, a live orchestra, unbelievable costumes and, of course, big Broadway-style dance numbers! ELVIS: A MUSICAL REVOLUTION | 22 JUNE – 21 JULY | HOTA
Get your blue suede shoes ready! This brand-new musical, authorised by Elvis Presley Enterprises themselves, celebrates the extraordinary life of award winning, cultural icon Elvis Presley and it’s coming to Queensland half way through this year. Yes we know the Gold Coast isn’t technically Brisbane, but this show features over 40 of the king of rock’n’roll’s hit songs including ‘Jailhouse Rock’, ‘Hound Dog’, ‘Burning Love’, ‘Earth Angel’, and so much more – how could we not include it in the roundup? With an all Australian cast and dazzling choreography, it’s unsurprising that tickets are going faster than golden records so be sure to get yours here before they go.

Jukebox musicals are coming in hot at the moment. First a musical made with the hits written by Elvis, now a musical based on the life of one of Australia’s personal rock’n’roll favourites of the 80s and 90s, Tina Turner! Featuring more than 20 of her iconic songs, including ‘Simply the Best’, ‘River Deep – Mountain High’ and ‘Proud Mary’, this smash-hit musical is a heart-pumping musical spectacular. WICKED | FROM 12 SEPTEMBER | QPAC
Rejoicify! Wicked, the musical sensation and prequel to the Wizard of Oz that has defied gravity globally for over 20 years, is back in Australia. The story follows two young women; one born with emerald-green skin, who is smart, fiery, and possesses an extraordinary talent, and the other, a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular. Their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships… until the world decides to call one ‘good’, and the other one ‘wicked’. SIX THE MUSICAL | JANUARY 2025
The global pop musical phenomenon and TONY Award winning production, SIX, follows the story of Henry VIII’s six wives as they remix history, telling each of their stories in their own sassy, influential, pop diva way. Pair this with some shimmer and show-stopping musical performances, it’s the most entertaining history lesson you will ever experience and it’s coming back to QPAC in January 2025.
