NYC meets LDN at the City's swanky new Rothwell's Bar & Grill

Puttin' on the... Rothwell's?

Edward Street’s newest addition, Rothwell’s Bar & Grill, takes inspiration from old-school eateries like London’s Savoy Grill and LA’s Musso and Frank Grill, where guests are so regular they have tables named after them and some of the world’s biggest stars settle in to dine with friends.

The bébé of chef Ben Russell (who you might have briefly peeped at Aria Brisbane) and 1889 Enoteca’s owner (and wine wholesaler) Dan Clark, Rothwell’s is a dressed-up affair, with a menu full of signature dishes suited to both solo lunches or lavish affairs.

Starters include grill classics like prawn cocktails, Niçoise salads and steak tartare with potato crisps, with more substantial dishes including five pastas (mostly vegetarian), five diverse steaks, grilled Moreton Bay bugs, and a beef Wellington for two (at least…).

In the 40-seat bar you’ll find, perhaps, Brisbane’s best martini (served in two parts so as to maintain the perfect chill), alongside other classics like Gibsons and Negronis, as well as a dedicated bar menu of smaller plates—though no less elegant!

Downstairs, a wine cellar to explore (if you’re feeling spendy) slash private dining room for up to 100 guests is lined with the heritage site’s exposed sandstone walls.

Rothwell’s Bar & Grill is now open at 235 Edward Street, serving lunch Tuesday-Saturday, 12 pm-2:30 pm, and dinner from 5:30 pm to late. Plan your visit and make a booking here!
