Regional foodies: Murwillumbah

Turns out good ol’ Murwillumbah is a mouthful in more ways than one!

While the town’s claim to fame will always be as the eighth town in Lucky Starr’s “I’ve Been Everywhere” hit song, Murwillumbah also shines bright as the home to many delicious restaurants and cafés.

Discover our tasty titbits on the best eats Murwillumbah has to offer below!

Keith | 132 Murwillumbah Street

Contrary to the fellow Aussie legend of the same name, this fan favourite is all Keith and no Urban, serving as Murwillumbah’s coolest country café. Aside from quality bants and popular baked goods like egg tarts and bacon sea salt cookies, Keith also doubles as a bar past 12pm, pouring out a range of delish craft beers, cocktails, and wines.

The Modern Grocer | 2 Wollumbin Street

Wholesome content alert: when it comes to getting your two fruits and five vege a day, you can’t go past this gorgeous providore and café! Restock your food baby with the help of their Big Veggie breakfast, which is a smorgasbord of grilled halloumi, sautéed mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, and locally-made sourdough on a bed of wilted spinach.

Bacaro | Corner of Brisbane Street and Proudfoots Lane

Go ‘mmmm’ in Murwillumbah’s M-Arts precinct upon discovering Bacaro, the kitchen and bar where Venetian-inspired dining has been nailed down to a fine art. Brush shoulders with their charming selection of cheese and prosciutto boards while admiring their drinks list stocked with Australian favourites like Ink Gin cocktails and Stone & Wood ales.

Wollumbin Street Bakery | 5 Wollumbin Street

No wonder the town packed with art deco and sugarcane houses a bakery that’s just as sweet! Next time you’re in, head to Wollumbin Street Bakery and treat the tastebuds to their delicious Oreo croissants or savoury meat pies.

Jujus | 13 Wharf Street

Good juju starts here! Dock in at this gorgeous Murwillumbah café, and you’ll be rewarded with great brunching meals sourced directly from Tweed Valley suppliers and the local farmers market. We’re talking crunchy breakfast granola with coconut milk and seasonal toppings alongside handmade ravioli for lunch, and irresistible takeaway lemon meringue tarts.

Sugar Beat Café | 6 Commercial Road

Willing to lend you some sugar is this neighbourly café. While their breakfast offerings are delicious, it’s their toastie menu that can’t be beat, sporting local favourites like the H.C.T (ham, cheese, and tomato with Dijon mustard) and Pink Paradise, a toastie packed with smoked salmon, cream cheese, lettuce, Spanish onion, and capers.
