Must-attend events at 2019’s Taste Tweed food festival!

I feel the need… the need for Tweed.

If this year’s good for anything, it’s food festivals (and testing our ability to say no to eating out every single day… it’s been a deliciously broke six months).

Next on the fest agenda is Taste Tweed, taking to venues across Kingscliff and, you guessed it, the Tweed Coast from July 5-14! A trail of dinners, tours, masterclasses and markets will bring life, food and fizz to the festival, and we’ve narrowed down everything worth doing to save you a lot of precious time (but not money, soz – you can thank us later).

Taste Tweed Dinner at Pipit | July 11 with 5:30pm or 7:30pm sittings | from $78pp

Ben Devlin’s buzzing Pottsville restaurant, Pipit, will be celebrating Taste Tweed over four courses with the option of additional wine pairings (it’s a yes from me)! Wood-fired cooking will hero local, unique produce with dishes to be determined on the day. As a taste of what to expect, the sample menu paints a picture of glazed pumpkin with persimmon and basil and baby grouper with grilled kohlrabi, capers and brown butter – and that’s one delicious picture. Find out further deets and get tickets here!

Beer meets gin dinner | July 12 from 7:30pm | $79pp

Beer meets gin meets a three-course feast! Salt Bar & Bistro is teaming up with Stone & Wood and Brookie’s Gin for the tastiest threesome you’ll ever experience. The night will come complete with a gin cocktail on arrival followed by three courses paired with either limited release Stoneys or good gal Brookie’s Gin. Dinner will be held out on the deck for extra ambience (and girth). Get those tix here.

Keto basics cooking masterclass | 10 July from 3:30pm | $30pp

Living la keto loca? Still have no idea what the hell keto actually is? Jayne Henry’s got you. Join the local foodie and event organiser at Tamarind Sands Resort for an interactive cooking masterclass, laying out everything you need to know about the benefits and enjoyment of a keto diet. Tickets are available here.

Kingscliff fashion and food show | July 8 from 10am | $40pp

Whether you’re hungry for fashion or straight up hungry, Marine Parade will provide. This one’s for lovers of all things local, supporting friendly Kingscliff designers and fashion houses with bubbles in hand and tastings on-site. After you’re done, a light lunch at Kingscliff Surf Club will wrap up the afternoon that you didn’t know you needed. Get tickets here.

Kingscliff night market | July 5 from 4pm-8:30pm | free

To market to market to grab a late-night snack. Kingscliff Night Market will pop up at Robinson Park for an evening spent wandering through a sea of market stalls and street food vans, with live music adding some tuna casseroles to the mix. Hot tip: neighbouring Barefoot Bar at the the Surf Club will be brewing pots of mulled wine, and you know you need to get around that.

Pasture to plate tour | July 14 from 9:30am-5pm | $99pp

Spending an entire day eating is the closest humans will get to perfection, and the Taste Tweed Pasture to Plate Tour will provide just that. The day will start at Tamarind Sands Resort, from where you’ll leave to weave between Tweed Valley Cheeses for morning tea and cheese tastings, Roost Interiors Murwillumbah for your very own treasure hunt, lunch at House of Gabriel in Tumbulgum, and last but certainly not least, Husk Farm Distillery for a boozy end to a beaut day. Grab those tickets here.

See you on tour.
