Mixing it up: Cocktail making classes in Brisbane

Cocktail Making Classes In Brisbane
If you thought martinis were fictional drinks James Bond invented, or that “on the rocks” involved a trip to the garden path, it’s time for your intervention.

Don’t worry, we’re not going to take the bottles away from you (we’re not monsters)! Instead, we’re going to share the best spots in Brisbane to take a cocktail class. Whether you’re the uni student who can’t quite afford another night out, or that weirdo who keeps putting parsley in mojitos, you’ll be mixing it up like a master in no time after one of these.

Mecca Bah | Fortitude Valley

Shake it up with Mecca Bah’s cocktail classes, where their in-house mixologists and cocktail connoisseurs will show you how your favourite Mecca mixes are made. Their menu sports tongue-tingling fancies like the Lemon Sherbet Cocktail, Turkish Delight Martini, and Sunset in Dubai, so you know you’re in for a sweet time. Gather up some booze-loving friends (or let loose with coworkers in a corporate class), and  you’ll learn some recipes that can’t be found in the average cocktail course.

Cowch Dessert Cocktail Bar | South Brisbane

For the child-at-heart (whose liver, meanwhile, grew up), Cowch is a fun way to meet – and embrace – your daily sugar and alcohol needs. Your afternoon in this udderly delightful dessert bar will start with a 40-minute cocktail class, in which you’ll shake, stir and muddle (incidentally, our new favourite word) four cocktails. When you’re finished shaking up a storm, the team at Cowch will trade your shot glasses for a selection of delicious canapés.

Riverbar and Kitchen | CBD

Leave the trackies at home – tonight you can make cocktails by the river! The gorgeous Riverbar offers a Night Out worthy of capitalization. The masterclass begins with one cocktail delivered straight to your waiting hand on arrival, and is followed by a course in making (and drinking) two more. Keen to extend your stay? We don’t blame you. Riverbar offers masterclass packages that include canapés or a two-course meal, starting at just $65pp.

Malt Dining | CBD

If your martinis are falling flat, or you have no idea what the heck a jigger is (guilty), go back to basics with Malt Dining’s cocktail introduction course. The rustic venue lies in the heart of Brisbane, and struts its stuff with a huge range of “beverage appreciation” courses (thank us later). Sip on your arrival cocktail as you learn to confidently mix two classic drinks. After you’ve wrapped your head around that, you’ll engage in a friendly cocktail-invention competition (with the chance to win a $50 Malt Dining voucher – AKA more cocktails for later). At $50pp, this is a no-brainer!

The Laneway | CBD

If you’ve always had your eye on a certain drink (or have tried and failed to mix it on your own), The Laneway can help you out. This sequestered spot in Brisbane’s heart offers private classes behind the bar. From a humongous list, you pick three cocktails to make – and drink. The classes are taught from 4-6pm on Saturdays, so you’ll have the venue all to yourself. Can you get more VIP than that?

Not just a night out with a difference, these cocktail classes in Brisbane make the perfect hen’s night or birthday celebration! If nothing else, we’re sure your friends will enjoy having mint, and not parsley, in their mojitos.
