A little slice of Bali has landed in Bulimba with Melrose

Overseas travel may be off the cards but, as always, the Venzin Group has got us sorted!

From the team that brought us the enormously popular Pawpaw, Mons Thai and Darvella Patisserie comes a brand new rooftop restaurant at the river end of Bulimba’s busy Oxford Street.

Open from Wednesday, May 12, Melrose is a celebration of Indonesian and Thai flavours in a stunning open-air setting, decked out with chic rattan, wood textures and warm tiles.

Heading up the kitchen is chef Arté Assavakavinvong (from Melbourne’s acclaimed Longrain), who has brought the classic culinary tastes of Thailand and Indonesia to Melrose with a few modern Asian twists—we’re talking crispy chicken ribs in punchy sambal belacan, Moreton Bay bug steamed buns with chilli jam and pickles, twice-cooked half duck with cauliflower and sambal bawang bakar, and crispy pork belly, babi kecap, ar-jard (among so much more)!

In addition to the lunch and dinner menu, bar snacks and small plates are available between 3 pm and 5 pm for a before-dinner bite, and there are also four banquet options (including one vegetarian and one gluten-free) for feeding a crew.

Melrose stocks an extensive 60-bottle wine list, spritzes and many other lively libations making it the perfect spot to catch up with friends or celebrate a special occasion. Our eyes are on the Thai Bloom cocktail of gin, elderflower, fresh watermelon, lime and Thai basil!

With a spritz in hand, you can enjoy the breezy Bali vibes in Bulimba from May 12! Melrose serves dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, and lunches Friday-Sunday.
