Market stall of the week: NYC Bagel Deli

American street food might be dominating the food scene at the moment, but that didn’t mean we were any less eager when we stumbled across NYC Bagel Deli, the Brisbane market stall of Eddie and Ania. The doughnut domination of recent weeks may have turned us off sugar-coated dough wheels, but we’ve rolled straight into the arms (holes?) of their savoury cousin, the bagel. Sourcing their bagels from veterans and Brisbane locals The Bagel Boys, NYC Bagel Deli’s buns are perfect before they even get their fillings, with a crisp outside and a dense and chewy inside. But as Mum said, it’s what’s on the inside that counts and this is where NYC Bagel Deli really steps things up. brisbane markets nyc bagel deli 2 Line up at their stall wherever you may find them and you could just select a bagel to go, say, plain, poppy seed, jalapeño, blueberry, or gluten-free. Or you could get them stuffed with one of the early morning hanger-busting fillings they’ve designed, like the pastrami and pickle filled Reuben, the chicken and creamed cheese, the crowd pleasing BRAT (bacon, rocket, avocado, tomato), or the smoked salmon. Not to mention the weekly specials available when fresh ingredients come around! Lady-like manners have to be abandoned when enjoying these stuffed wheels, because there is no skimping on the filling! Just open wide and make sure you aren’t wearing a white shirt is the best advice we can give you. You can catch NYC Bagel Deli at a number of markets across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, including the Davies Park Market in West End, Eagle Farm Markets, Noosa Farmer’s Market, and Big Top Markets in Maroochydore.
