Market stall of the week: Bella BBQ

Warning: Not for vegetarians. All about slow-cooked, fall off the bone American-style meat, Bella BBQ is definitely not a food truck to be hunting down if you’re the tofu inclined. Just as it’s name implies, Bella BBQ is a roaming truck kitted out with one kick-ass barbecue, which smokes up some truly beautiful cuts of meat. Once limited to pop-up stall at markets around Brisbane, these southern style BBQ masters have gone mobile, roaming the streets of Brisbane and serving up slow cooked pork, beef and chicken to hungry carnivores everywhere. Take your pick from a rack of slow smoked pork ribs smothered in smokey BBQ sauce, a tender brisket burger loaded with house made potato salad, cheese, salad, chips (yes, chips) and plenty of sauce, or the pulled pork nachos, topped with Bella’s special smoked cheese sauce. brisbane food truck bella bbq 2There’s also some smaller sides likes deep fried buffalo wings, fries and classic creamy slaw – though they aren’t small in any sense of the world. No problem if you’ve got a rumbling belly to fill! Then there’s a burger like no burger you’ve ever seen before. The Mega Burger is stacked with pulled pork, beef brisket, bacon jam, potato salad, fries, cheese and well, you get the picture. It’s a monster. As if that heart-attack waiting to happen isn’t enough of an incentive to stalk their movements, Bella BBQ give out loyalty cards and the 6th purchase is the charm. Freebie time! You can usually find the truck at the Love your Local and Boundary Street markets, but they also stop by foodie events and even the odd construction site. To make finding them easy, you can download the Bella BBQ app and always know where to catch them. But if that’s all too newfangled and modern age for you, good old Facebook will keep you up to date with their location too. Words by Elissa Rogers and Ranyhyn Akui
