Housed in the original Chinderah bakery, Cubby is travelling south of the border to treat the Northern Rivers to their own slice of bakery goodness that has thus far been exclusive to Queensland. The freshly-baked, crusty baguettes with hearty fillings like karaage chicken and, prosciutto, brie and rocket will satisfy all your lunch needs post-dip in the nearby Tweed River.
Not to undermine their savoury delights, the real drawcard is their range of melt-in-your-mouth sweet delights. Among them, salted caramel eclairs, strawberry macarons, an infamous vanilla slice, and salted caramel and rye brownies – you’ll need one of each, for research.
And for those chasing a morning pick-me-up? Breakfast is covered with their eggs Benny in a croissant, and French toast topped with seasonal fruit, syrup and ice-cream. As for coffee, a bakehouse wouldn’t be complete without a smooth brew, so cups of the good stuff are, of course, available to accompany your foodie wares.
If a summer picnic by the water is more your style (with such stunning surroundings, why wouldn’t you?), baguettes and sweet treats are available to take away and will give you the chance to snap that enviable ‘gram photo we all know you’re going to.
A sunbake with a side of baked goods sounds like the perfect weekend activity to us, so be sure to add this spot to your daytrip to-do list.
