Seven South
A swish venue from the couple who previously owned Home Store Café in Ashgrove Seven South is so named for being seven kilometres south of the CBD, but you’ll find no quiet suburban café here. Instead, you’ll find a glam eatery kitted out with copper light fixtures, timber tables and white wire chairs, with a quirky recycled timber feature wall down one side of the café.
Take a table inside the airy dining area or out on the footpath for breakfast, lunch or dinner and you’ll find plenty to tempt your tastebuds from Head Chef Sam Potter, who trained under Philip Johnston at e’cco Bistro (another sign that you’re in for a delicious time). There’s some clear favourites on the menu – a fluffy ricotta and blueberry hotcake with crème fraiche and pistachio praline that could turn even the most unshakable savoury breakfast lover and the lunchtime Wagyu burger to pair with one of the milkshakes, smoothies or freshly squeezed juices on the drinks menu.
Dinner is where things really step up though, with bistro style fare and a wine list that wouldn’t be out of place in a classy CBD joint. The benefit of finding it in the ‘burbs though? There’s a kids menu and plenty of space to relax (and park) to go with it.
