Popolo
Popolo was sharing meals before hipsters had even clued on to the joys of being able to try more things by skipping the main and going straight for the small plates. And with million dollar views of the city and river, and a rustic interior dotted with modern pop culture, eating at the South Bank restaurant is a scenic experience at any time of the day.
While staying true to their Italian roots, Popolo’s menu features a variety of meals, from perfect pasta to their famous suckling pig. Light sharing meals (small plates so you can fit more in) include the house-smoked ricotta with onion marmalade and flat bread, and their juicy meatballs, but if you’re after something a little bigger, try a bowl of gnocchi or one of their fire roasted pizzas.
Finished off with desserts like the fig and frangipane tart with vanilla mascarpone and Queensland honey (we don’t share our dessert, that’s crossing a line) and some drops from their wine list, we would say it’s the perfect feast!
