With local lad Corey Thoms and Norway expat Helge Olsen at the helm, West End eatery Lokal + Co fuses local ingredients with Nordic flavour for a venue with a difference. Walk in the doors and you won’t able to help but stop and stare, with minimalistic but uber chic décor sprinkled with copper features, while just out the front door, a sunny deck provides a chilled spot for afterwork drinks and eats.

Whether you hunt them down in the back streets of West End for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you’ll find something creative on the menu to tempt you, from Nordic-inspired dishes like their Danish open rye topped with sardines, egg, fennel, radish and lettuce, or breakfast fare like gingerbread waffles with chocolate hazelnut sauce, whipped ricotta and crumbed honey come, and lighter options like avo on toast with spiced labne and chia seed puddings.

For lunch, ditch your usual West End takeaway and find a sunny spot on Lokal + Co’s deck for spiced roast pumpkin quinoa salad or a heftier pulled pork sandwich with ham, Jarlsberg cheese, pickles, beer mustard aioli and side of thick cut chips, paired with a Norwegian tap beer for some international flavour.
