As every foodie knows, the stairway to heaven is paved with pizza, which is why UPSTAIRS at Toombul is adding Italian restaurant Il Gancio to their dining repertoire!
Opening on Thursday, November 14, Il Gancio promises to fill the hearts (and stomachs) of visitors one exemplary Italian meal at a time. And with a name that means ‘the hook,’ it’s no wonder that Il Gancio has captured our attention.
Alongside boasting a seriously impressive Italian pedigree (Il Gancio is owned by the same peeps who brought you King Street’s Il Verde and Mooloolaba’s Il Vento), the restaurant is also set to serve up a menu bigger than an Italian family (read: BIG).
We’re talking ten wood-fired pizzas, eight varieties of pasta, and a seemingly endless assortment of desserts, small plates, and sides!
Prepare to indulge in Hervey Bay scallops topped with smoked crispy pancetta, herbed butter and flying fish roe, and irresistible seafood linguine stuffed with wild-caught prawns and New Zealand shelled mussels, before tucking into the Romana: a fior di latte pizza topped with salami, sausage, onion, potatoes, rosemary and olive oil.
Don’t swoon just yet, Brisbane – we haven’t even told you the best bit!
Following in the footsteps of its sister restaurants, Il Gancio is also set to offer the crazy-popular cheese wheel pasta, which visitors will be able to nab alongside a croquette entrée and house beer or wine for just $35pp on Wednesdays.
Given the seafood focus, it’s no wonder that Il Gancio will also boast an oyster bar, from which guests will be able to indulge in $1 oysters and $7 glasses of prosecco every Friday night!
Lastly, Il Gancio understands that it’s the little things that count, which is why visiting bambinos will also have their own dedicated kids menu to hook into – gnocchi Bolognaise and spaghetti carbonara? Yes, please!
With all this (and a killer Italian wine list to boot), it’s no wonder Il Gancio will be the first place we’re stepping into when UPSTAIRS by Toombul opens on Thursday, November 14.
